Komets claim Vaskivuo

According to the CHL, the Komets have claimed forward Mike Vasivuo off waivers from Rapid City. He has 13 goals and 37 points in 54 games this season.

No idea yet what they'll have to do to activate him on the roster.

Don't really know how the Frankes feel on Bennefield but he hasn't lived up to the hype and could be someone that has to go to make room for Vaskivuo. Or we could just play the IR  card like usual.

Check the last post on"K's still seeking identity after 60 games".  Great minds think alike and now I'm a little scared!

Send Leo packing. This league is way beyond his ability. Pickup games are more his style. IMO.

Might as well do it now especially knowing he won't make the team next year CHL or ECHL

With Dustin coming off of IR, does anybody think a certain turnover prone D-man will be sent packing?

No move neccessary.  K's have released A-Pod (presumably at his request) so he can return to Russia and finish the season there.  Sigh...

While I am pleased to see some roster changes, didn't every team below us in the standings pass on Vasivuo? He did well with Dayton for two years while production with Rapid City this year was much less. Well worth the small investment waivers cost. Let's find another winger and put Bennefield and Thomas on waivers.

I see that A-Pod has left the Komets for Russia.

Hopefully Vaskivuo can pick up where A-Pod left off.

Tough break for Komets but honestly not sure how much this really effects them. Apod had a lot of talent but he at times seemed lost on the ice. This explains the need to claim Vaskivou who I hope can be a power forward for them. Good size kid

Welcome back, Hit the Post.  Good to read your comment.

I believe you are correct that every team with a worse record than the K's had a chance to claim him.  For some it was probably just too late in the season to make a difference, others may have already made some changes, still others may have decided not to rock their chemistry this late before playoffs.

Who knows?  Last year and the year before he put up good numbers for Dayton.  I remember reading in the off season about his trade to Rapid City and thinking, "Gee Rapid City just got better".

But there was a reason why Rapid City felt OK about waiving him.  I just hope whatever the reason, that it isn't a locker room thing and that he fits in with the K's and produces  immediately.

I'll be glad to watch him.  Still, with Podshendyalov gone and Vaskivou in, the K's are treading water and still need more scoring.

I wonder what opinion Frodawg has of him?
