Too bad the owners of this team won't give this city what they deserve... a AAA team.

here we go again. the owners cant give us a aaa team or they wouldnt be the owners anymore! why is that so hard to understand?????  the only triple a league is the american league and you have to be affiliated with the nhl and they control everythihing from players to coaches to names and whatever.

Abused dead horse alert!!! When we move to the ECHL people will complain about that after asking for that over the I and C. I'm going to slap myself. I am very hungry today, no free tacos from last night.

1) I believe Fort wayne would support an AHL tesm

2) The Frankes most decidedly do not want to be the owners of an AHL team

3) If some group or person had the wherewithal and desire to bring an AHL team to Fort Wayne, I believe the Frankes would step aside.

4) Said group or person does not and will likely never exist

If I had to guess, I would think that most K's fans aren't really all that confident about the playoffs this year.  One has only got to think back on the endless stream of overtime/shootout losses during the most recent games, and question the teams' ability to close out games.  Luckily the shootout isn't used in the playoffs.

Maybe all is not lost, however.  Just not too long ago the K's were doing a good job winning one-goal games.   So good a job that Al Sims felt compelled to say, "We're a team that believes in themselves, and we just don't believe we're out of it in a one goal game."  I can't help but feel, that as true as that may be, recently the K's may be questioning themselves a little bit.  Still....

What does it take to win in a playoff series?  Well, good goaltending for one thing.  Nick Boucher is one of the best in the league, and Gerry Festa has made tremendous strides.  A team needs a smothering defense.  There is no reason that this group of defensemen can't bottle up anyone in the league.

Scoring is necessary.  This team has very capable scorers and I am heartened by the fact that, lately, goals have come from a variety of forwards.  They also have two of the very best offensive defensemen that this league can offer.

Special teams play will be huge.  PP and PK must be on top of their games.  We have seen flashes of excellence from both during the year.  Success from either or both breeds confidence, and confidence is the last intregal part of a championship run.

As a person who has constantly called for more offense, here are the facts as they present themselves today.

Goals for: Wichita-221,  Quad City-216,  Rapid City-215,  Fort Wayne-212.

Goals against:  Texas-152, Wichita-164,  Rapid City-167, Allen-168,  Fort Wayne-176.

Each team has played 62 games.  Pretty close isn't it? 4th in goals scored and 5th in goals against.

There are still four games left in the season.  Enough games to solidify first place or drop back a few places. It's up to them, but if were me, I'd look at all the postives and believe in myself and build on them.

My final keys for success would be:  make good outlet passes, go strong to the net, and stay out of the box.

Anyone with me on this?

Alan, I agree with you completely.  Saturday's win was not impressive.  The Komets had way too many sloppy passes and defensive breakdowns.  They almost gave up a goal within the first 30 seconds because of poor play.  It was only because of superb goaltending that we were able to hang in there and pull Saturday's game out.  This is not totally fair, but when a next-to-last place team like Dayton can manhandle Laredo 9-1 it makes you wonder why a "first place" team can't at least win two games in a row from them.

The Komets need to stop the mistakes, quit taking penalties, and play with consistency if they want to defeat the other playoff-bound teams that seem to have a whole lot more grit than the Komets.

its good if were going thru our rough spots now. time to get it back and start the playoffs on a positive note.... as for the one comment above, do you really think the frankes would step aside and give up their livelyhood????? if you ran a business and were very successful and someone wanted to come and open the same business next door to you, would you step aside and let them take over???? sometimes you people need to stop and think about what you are saying. i believe too that ft wayne would support an ahl team but  the frankes dont want to give up the family business and there isnt anybod y out there with millions of dollars to risk and start a new ahl franchise.
