That was one of the craziest things I've ever seen in a game. All of the 18,000 plus in attendance saw it, but somehow the 4 closest to it missed it. The officiating was probably some if the most suspect in any NHL game I've witnessed. For a moment or two, I felt as if I was back at Memorial Coliseum watching CHL officials. I think the funniest thing was Clowe's comments after the game. It will be interesting to see if Shanahan passes down any discipline or not. The officials certainly deserve some. Clowe getting suspended will hurt San Jose and he was a beast last night. Regardless, there is no way of knowing what might have happened on the break away, but a penalty definitely could have changed the outcome of the game, standings, and playoff seeding.
The Kings now head to San Jose ice with the division title and home ice in the playoffs on the line. Go Kings! The Staples Center and the LA Live area around it are impressive. We had a great time and many thanks go to Rob and Maddie. I hate that I missed the 3 home games against Rapid City, but it was a great experience with good friends. I'm looking forward to the next round against Missouri. From Los Angeles, Go Komets! and Go Kings! (At least until they happen to meet the Blackhawks)
I was watching a video clip about this just a moment ago. One of my housemates overheard and from across the room said -- and I quote -- "WHAT?!!!!!" Looks like there won't be any suspension at all. Apparently the rules for such things don't apply here. It should have been a minor, but since that got missed, he gets off scot-free. Looks like we could be in for a "Clowe Rule" though.
