Tailing the Komets

How confident are you now?

I almost have a sense that many fans were more confident in the Komets heading to Missouri than they are now with the next two games at home. Am I wrong? What do you think?

I am always confident our team can win no matter what, but is there more of a panic? Yes.

We have to win game six before we can think about game seven...

One game at a time, one period at a time, one SHIFT AT A TIME!!!

I think they backed off in game 5 knowing they were coming back. If missouri used more energy on saturday it could be very interesting. If they win game 6 they will take the series.

My confidence is directly proportional to the play of Nick Boucher.  If he's on tonight, and plays out of his mind--like we know he can, I'll feel much better.  The offense hasn't been clicking this series, so I think the only way we can win it is if we shut them down defensively.

That said, I really hope I'm at the Coliseum Thursday.

Good question Blake.  It's a psychological and emotional question.  Maybe it would have been better if we had won, lost, and won in Missouri, rather than the win, win, and loss.  Coming home after a loss might be a little tougher than coming home after a win, especially a 5-2 loss, when the other games have been so close.  I would think you have to put the question of momentum out of your mind.  As has been said, one shift, one period and one game at a time.  It's unfortunate that we are stuck with weeknight games, which guarantee lower attendance.  We could sure use the crowd as the extra man tonight.

That being said, my Komet flag is still flying, my hockey shrine is still up, and I still believe in Superman.  Hit them fast.  Hit them hard.   Don't let up and show no mercy.  They can't score when you keep the puck in their zone.  Go big or go home.  This is what we've waited and watched all year for.  GO KOMETS!

I feel fairly confident that they will win tonight. Why? Because they always put the effort in when they absolutely have to. Never mind all the other times when their backs weren't up against a wall so they just let things slide. The only doubt I have is that Missouri is a pretty good team too, and they will be wanting this one very badly. I'm sure that they will be playing all out, not wanting to go to a game 7. Anything could happen, and that would just be the way the puck bounces. You can bet that it will be a good game either way. But yeah, the K's will win. All bets are off on Thursday, though.

Pretty good comments above.  I totally agree with Hoss that you have to win game 6 before thinking of game 7.  I also agree with Brandan that the play of Nick Boucher is the key.

To me, unfortunately, there is almost too much pressure on Boucher.  Besides the obvious reasons,  I believe Effinger can have a bad game and still win.  I don't see that happening with Boucher.  The Missouri offense can carry the game past spotty goaltending and steal a win.  I don't remember too many games that the Komets offense has "rescued" a game for the Komets.

Blake, what is the tendency you've enjoyed pointing out this year of the Komets at home playing the first game of the week?  Not sure, but my recollection is that it isn't too good.  Well, this is the first home game of the week, isn't it?  Look, they all know what to do and I would submit that leaving town down 2-0 in games and bringing it back home is terrific.  There was a lot of pressure on them.  They've lived with that pressure now since the second home loss.  Maybe they took a chance to catch their breath during game 5.  Time to get back to work!

They need to come out hard, forecheck, and pressure Missouri all over the ice.  The Mavericks can't score if they are always backing up.  Special teams have got to contribute.

How confident am I?  Well they won two in a row on the road.  Just win one in a row at home twice.

Starting with tonight.

Goalies and Defense win hockey Championships.

I'm confident in our Goalie.

I talked to a Mavericks player yesterday at the BP station by the Coliseum.  Since I saw him getting in a Jeep Cherokee, I asked if they arrived in a team bus, which they did.

However, I got the impression they felt confident since they towed a Jeep Cherokee behind their bus so they could have a car to drive around town in during their stay in town.   The tow hook was still on the front of the Jeep.

Having shared this tidbit of knowledge, my personal confidence level will be greatly enhanced if the Komets do the following:  score first, score more than 4 goals, and stay out of the penalty box.

Tonight:  Komets 5, Mavericks 3.
