Tailing the Komets

Komets need to slow down

They are playing at Missouri's pace and it's costing them. They need to slow down, dump the puck and start pounding on the Mavericks' defensemen. And stay out of the penalty box. Both Mavericks' goals came on the power play. Shots were 10-6 Mavericks and they are flying up the middle of the ice so far.

Komets have totally gotten away from what made them successful on Tuesday.

--They are not playing nearly as physical

--They are not as aggressive with the forecheck

--They are letting them stand in front of our net uncontested!  At this point in the year how can we still be doing this?  Starenky and Co. were clearing them out last game.  Our d-men seem afraid to hit anyone.  We were standing guys up at center ice last game and we are just way too passive tonight.

Even though they took a penalty for it, the hit on Henley set the tone for the game.  It sent the message that "we are going to come into your barn and take it to you.......what you gonna do about it?"

Hopefully Sims gets the guys back on track or this will get out of hand in the 2nd period.

As a side note:  As soon as we scored our PP goal I posted on the last topic that we would be on a parade to the box.....and there we went.  This game may come down to special teams and if history repeats itself, we will get some more PP chances since they are ahead and have had 1 more PP than us.  They seem to ref the scoreboard and don't want the penalties to favor any 1 team regardless of how many infractions actually occur.

I didn't see any penalties that were even questionable though, other than Henley should have been called for interference and not tripping. All three were fairly obvious.

I agree.  I thought that all the penalties were warranted from what I could see.  Just pointing out how the games have traditionally gone in the playoffs.

Don't think anyone expected a shootout like this. Great plays all around.
