Tailing the Komets

Les Reaney suspended UPDATED

Les Reaney has been suspended for tonight's game for this third-period on Jamie Milam in Game 5. He hit him with an elbow and shoulder to the head away from the puck behind the Komets' net.

Here's WANE's video of the hit.

It would appear that Mr. Reaney has no intent of playing at the same time as Brent Henley ever again. I guess running for your life has that effect.

The hit on Milam was high and dirty. Mr. Wiley must have looked at Reaney's repeat offences.

What about his slewfoot on  Leo Thomas? Or hell, his taunting of the crowd at the end of the game. This kid deserves a savage beating, not a suspension. If only Brad Mac' or Jeff Worlton could be brought back for one game against this punk.....

Did the Komets get any suspensions for tonight or do we get to skate with 18 players?  I assume that this means that Rapid City will have to skate with 17 players.

Correct. No suspensions for the Komets.

Every team has a player that the opposing fans "love to hate" but the problem with Reaney is 2-fold.  #1 instead of "getting under opponents skin" through chirpping and good clean physical play, he plays physically dirty; mostly only hitting someone when they have their back turned and then targeting their head.  #2 he has yet to stand up and "answer" for any of these hits.  He literally runs away when challenged.  I can't imagine him getting any respect from his opposing teams or even his own team for that matter.  Mostly all other players in the league that play that style or role are not as blatently dirty and will at least stand up and drop the gloves when called for.  Sgroi, Schrock, MacMillan, Richards, etc all play hard and get under opposing players and fans skin but will answer the bell when they are challenged.  You have to respect these guys for doing that but you can't respect a guy like Reaney.

A gutless cheapshot artist who refuses to stand up for his actions.

I don't always agree with the player decisions that are made but I salute and respect the Franke's for not having this type of player on our roster, representing our Hockey Club and our City.

In the game the other night when Reaney hit Henley it was funny to watch how fast Reaney skated away from Henley.  Reaney knew that if Henley got a hold of him that he was in for a whipping.  In retrospect it was a good thing that Henley did not get a hold of Reaney and the linesman stepped in, because I'm afraid that Henley would have been looking at a long suspension.

Komets hurt Rapid City where it counts.  On the scoreboard.  Get the win tonight.  Come home and get ready for Missouri.

Go Komets!!!!

I can hear Jim Wiley, CHL Director of  Hockey Operations,  now.  "Mr. Reaney, a repeat offender,...."

This decision can't hurt the Komets.  Rapid City playing a man short will have to improvise a little.  Just as the Komets had to do in game five.

Hmmm... I can hear Mr Wiley now "Upon further review, Milam was reaching for the puck with he head down and Mr. Reaney delivered a hard but legal check."

No suspension according to the CHL site.

Funny, because all reports from here in Rapid City indicate that Reaney is NOT suspended and WILL be playing Game 6 tonight.  After seeing the hit, I would've understood if he was suspended, but everything I'm hearing suggests that's not the case.  The CHL site has no reference to the suspension.  Would love to know where Sebring got the information from.

So now the Rush appealed this and got it overturned?! This has become the biggest circus I have ever seen in the 35 yrs we have had season tickets...does ANYONE out there STILL believe there is no conspiracy against us? Wow!!!

CHL - Conspiracy Hockey League

A five member panel unaminosly overturned the suspension. What a joke, who was on the panel? The Marx Brothers?

whole_in_one,

David Welker could not be on this panel (or whatever it is called) as Mr. Welker is deceased.
