Tailing the Komets

No further discipline for Auger

For his abuse of officials game misconduct from Game 2. During the playoffs, there's a an accumulation system for abuse of officials penalties. A second such penalty would be an automatic one-game suspension and possibly more if the league decides it warrents more.

Thanks for the update, Blake.

I'm pretty happy that Auger will be on the ice.  But you know what?  I must be totally screwed up because, to me, that is exactly the type of penalty with under a minute remaining in the game, that would make sense for a suspension.  I mean when the game is literally over, I would think having a suspension threat would really discourage players from going after the officials.  Now don't go and think I'm worried about the officials or anything.  It's just that I could see a league wanting to protect them.  ( I just threw up in my mouth).

Years ago in the old IHL, the Komets were playing Flint at the Memorial Coliseum and were getting the brunt end of a lot of calls ( sounds familiar right?),  I don't remember the name of the ref any longer but at the top of my lungs yelled, "Hey (whatever the guy's name was), there's a bus leaving for Flint after the game.  Be under it!!

Something I've noticed before, when going to the CHL home page, under "teams" is a drop down that includes the Amarillo Gorillas and the Austin Ice Bats.  Why haven't they eliminated those two franchises?  The league must be paying attention to the list as they have included Denver. Anybody out there able to answer?

Also, as much as I've complained allyear about scoring, and as much as we need some offensive explosions now, can anyone tell me how many "hat tricks" the Komets have and when the last hat trick occurred?  Thanks in advance.

Looking at the game sheets, I'm showing 3 hat tricks for the season, but the most recent one was questionable. If I remember correctly, the CHL counts winning shootout goals. That would give DeAngelis a hat trick on February 24 in the K's 5-4 home victory over Arizona.

Prior to that, Auger had a hat trick on December 10 in a 5-0 home victory over Evansville. He had a 4th goal on a penalty shot and had the primary assist on the only other goal by Mele.

And on Decebember 16 Chaumont had a hat trick in an away game victory (5-3) over Evansville. He also had the primary assist on a a goal by Pod-Man.

Someone let me know if I missed any.

I should add that it's always been apparent from the stats that there wasn't just 1 star on this team. Often the team would score 7 goals and they'd be by 7 different players. It's unusual, but that's usually considered a good thing to have balanced scoring. It makes a team harder to shut down.

so a bunch more players can tell the ref to stuff it at the end of the game and we will be ok!
