Alex Zion signs in Canadian Jr. A

Alex Zion has signed to play hockey with the Toronto-based Orangeville Americans Canadian Jr. A team of the GHML.  Alex just returned from the NHL Pre-Draft tournament in Boston, MA where he posted back-to-back shutouts.  Alex completed this season playing hockey for Snider High School where he posted a .937 save percentage and was named first team All-City goaltender.  Alex was one of three local players (Brian Hakes and Ryan Theisen were the others) named to Team Indiana and backstopped the Indiana all-star team during America’s Showcase in Pittsburgh.  Alex has backstopped 4 teams to Indiana State Championship titles and 3 National Championship appearances.  Alex will participate in a pre-season pro training camp in August before reporting to his team in September.  The GMHL is the same league that produced Fort Wayne Komets Artem Podshendyalov as well as several ECHL, AHL, and multi-nation World Junior Team members.  Alex Zion is a senior at South Side High School who will turn 18 on May 30.

Thank you for recognizing Alex and his signing with Orangeville.  We are so proud of Alex  ~~~  this has been his dream.   He is an outstanding young man.  I remember Alex playing hockey at six years of age - - -  as his grandmother,  I wish him the very best.
