Tailing the Komets

Stanley Cup is coming

Lord Stanley’s Cup Comes to Fort Wayne to Help Animals

What: The NHL’s top prize, the Stanley Cup is coming to Fort Wayne, courtesy of Robbie Laird and sponsored by the Fort Wayne Komets. Laird, a former Komets player and coach now with the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, has chosen to use his time with the cup to help raise money for local animals in need. By arranging for the cup to be brought to the HOPE for Animals Low Cost Spay/Neuter/Wellness Clinic, Laird is giving Fort Wayne residents a chance to see and have a picture taken with Lord Stanley’s cup. The Komets will be bringing several of their championship cups as well, including the New Turner Cup, the original Turner Cup and the President’s Cup. For some this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Fans can have a photo taken of themselves with the Stanley Cup, or any of the other cups for a $5.00 donation, which benefits HOPE for Animals in their fight against the euthanasia of healthy adoptable animals. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available as well.

When: On August 7th, beginning at 5:30 pm and ending at 7:30 pm on a first come first served basis. The cup will be removed promptly at 7:30 pm.

Where: The HOPE for Animals Clinic is located at 1333 Maycrest Drive in Fort Wayne. That is near Lake and Hobson Road.

Why: In Fort Wayne alone, about 10,000 pets are euthanized every year. Most are killed due to overpopulation caused by unplanned breeding. By providing education, low cost pet services and supporting adoption and rescue, HOPE’s mission is to end the euthanasia of healthy adoptable pets in our community.

HOPE Low Cost Spay/Neuter/Wellness Clinic is a division of HOPE for Animals and is entirely funded by donations. High Quality Spay/Neuters are offered at low cost pricing and available to everyone. For more information about how you can help end unnecessary euthanasia call HOPE at 260-420-SPAY. www.hope-for-animals.org

This will be my second opportunity to see the Cup.  I got to see it up close and personal when the Panthers played for it.  Thanks to Robbie for letting us all get a chance to see Lord Stanley's Cup, plus it's for a great cause.

This is a great cause, and it is very generous of Robbie to share his day with the Stanley Cup with everyone.
