Boucher surgery results

Nick Boucher had surgery on his left hip today, and the doctor again found more problems than hoped for. The doctor performed microfracture surgery again and Boucher's recovery time before he can skate will be at least six-to-eight weeks.

The good news? There's no doubt that anything got missed in either hip and he should be 100 percent for sure when he's healed.

Well, now we officially have a "lockout".  Of course, even with it being in effect, it hasn't hurt many.  I mean the owners haven't lost any gate receipts and the players haven't lost any paychecks because no games have been lost as yet.  Let's see what happens when the wallets start shrinking.

Two Russian players have opted to play in the KHL, but I'm wondering if they put in their contracts that they may return to the  NHL when and if the lockout ends?  I suppose Europe could be a stop gap measure for some.  They would make some money and stay in shape ( the possibility of injury could derail some from considering Europe, however).

The president/commissioner of the AHL was quoted that he is "excited" that his league would be the #1 hockey league in North America with no NHL.  I understand his thinking but I'm wondering what the NHL thinks about their "partner" who views such a negative for the NHL as a positive for his league. ( I haven't quite thought that one all the way through).

Speaking of the AHL.  Anaheim sent 16 players to Norfolk, then a day later sent two more.  Does anyone else find it a little ironic that when Norfolk does assign a player (players) to come to Fort Wayne , those players will be playing in front of larger crowds here?

I can't help but wonder waht the strategy is for the Komets now with the lockout.

Ironically as I was typing this, my friend Jack called me to ask if I've heard anything new.  He said it is so quiet that "you can hear crickets, and hear earthworms move".  "Very unusual for the Komets at this time of year."

You aren't alone in your thinking, Jack.

P.S.  Remember three weeks ago when ecerything would become clear to people in a week and a half?

According to Norfolks roster there is a lot of holes still there but training camp has not started. I am not sure how many players will be attending camp rather than 4 from us but the way the roster is they are short in a lot of areas especially defenseman. We shall see.

Norfolk's roster also shows 4 goalies....I wonder if the K's will get sent a goalie and what that could possibly mean for either Effinger or Reiter?
