Much like the CHL, the ECHL requires a team to ask for a review of a minor penalty by 12 p.m. the next day, and the Komets did not do that. There is also a $100 fee for such a request which is rescinded if the appeal results in a fine or suspension for the opposing player. Any penalty for a major, match or game misconduct is automatically reviewed.

I got the $100, if that's the problem. A guy goes low and blows out someone's knee and it's not an issue? I'm not saying that Gens had an intent to injure, but his neglect in making contact too low should have been whistled as a clipping pentalty and should be fined at minimum. I guess all parties want this to be the precendent moving forward. As long as we think you meant to hit someone cleanly, it's okay to blow his knee into 3 pieces.
Hey, how about this thought, Gens hit on Auger was a rookie mistake. I hate the outcome, Auger was a top player. Rob Blake's first hip check wasn't golden, that's why were developing players through practice. We're in a developmental league and in that there is risk and operational error intent or not. Whether or not out of this outcome we are still watching replacements of the NHL. Prospects is a better word or professionals but the ECHL is a rookie league with rookie mistakes by players, officials, and management alike. On my opinion, this league is the best AA hands down. Look how frustrating the replacement refs of the NFL were. We just to accept fate when it can not be changed by rules and the keepers of said rules.
"AA" Hockey refs are "AA" Hockey Refs. They all stink, I thought i remember Whackberry in town a few times last year too.
I expected better officiating from the Premier 'AA' ECHL
So because of a technicality, a player gets away with ending another players season... Way to put player safety first ECHL!!!
Tough one for the Komets brass to learn a lesson on...
