I'm not 100 percent sure yet, but I'm guessing the ECHL asked the Komets to change their goal song. This is very corporate hockey, and anything derogatory toward the other team or officials is subject to a fine in the ECHL. If that was the case, you can be sure the Komets won't be going back to any of the standard songs.
So what would you suggest and why?

While I can understand that the leauge may want clubs to have a song that is not offensive to other teams or the officials. I can't see them asking us to change our goal song from a song with no spoken words in it. (Crowd Chant - Joe Satriani)
I would suggest going back to Crowd Chant, or Blur's Song #2. Those songs really have crowds on thier feet, and excited about the goal. The new song is leaving people in confusion and doesn't really pump the crowd up.
That's strange because Crowd Chant never had anything negative toward the officials or other team. I understand Rock and Roll part 2, but Crowd Chant was perfectly fine. I guess if they can't use Crowd Chant it would be cool to bring the Ole song back, or the Flyers song called Maria (I Like It Loud) is really neat and his a distinct chant and clapping best. A fan vote would be a really fun and exciting as well as interesting. We need a song that gets everyone really pumped because a goal is the most exciting part if a game. Go Komets!
I'm with Anon; what did 'Crowd Chant' have that was offensive? OK fine, we know we'll probably never here R&R Pt. 2 again, but that's fine by me. I can't stand the "Ole" song, or "Zombie Nation" or "Song #2". I'm probably among a select few that actually _liked_ Crowd Chant. I thought it was unique and at least clappable.
Full disclosure: I haven't been to a game where this has been played (only made it to the pre-season ones so far). I'm interested to see how it 'works', or 'doesn't'.

I think 2 other franchises (at least) use Rock and Roll part 2 in the ECHL...or at least they did as early as last season...
Not sure if this is an ECHL thing or not; but my money would go to it being the work of the ever uptight PC police we have here in Ft. Wayne... Its a shame that such a small group of people can ruin the fun for so many...
Crowd Chant is overused, and getting stale. Many teams have used it, and it would be great if the Komets had something that was uniquely theres. I like the new goal song. And I hope to hear it 4 or 5 times a night.
I'm not sure if I'm making a joke or not.
Back during the 72-73 Turner Cup season, whenever the crowd needed to get pumped up, the organist would play the title song from the movie "Bridge on the River Kwai". It was real popular and the K's had to stop it from being played due to a copyright infraction.
Before anyone dismisses it, think about it. Just because something is old doesn't mean it wouldn't work. It's a real catchy tune, has a backbeat you can't lose, and I can't imagine anyone finding it offensive.
If someone out there who is more savvy on the computer than me, can find a link to it, post it so everyone can listen.
It wouldn't hurt to try it in a game and see what people think. It is very upbeat.

Turns out I misspoke and the league had nothing to do with asking the Komets to change from the most recent goal song.
I'd vote for "Brass Bonanza" that the old Hartford Whalers used to use. I don't know if there would be any Copyright issues but it is quite catchy.

I'm so busy after a goal I never notice it. I'm checking to see if I have a photo of it or video, or writing down what I saw happen. I'm pretty well zoned in. I hadn't even realized they had changed it.

I will say having been away from FW for a few years and back now I think it is INCREDIBLY rude how fans yell "sucks" after each member of the oppossing team is introduced. Throughout the years I have been to other arenas that did that and was always glad we were classy back in FW --- it's a bit obnoxious.
As for the goal song -- only in FW will you find such controversey over a song used to celebrate a goal. I do like the Blackhawks and Flyers goal songs.... Why can't we just pick 1 and stick with it. I'm suprised they still play Welcome to the Jungle -=-- they do say "your gonna die" I'm surprised it hasn't been removed.

I liked Crowd Chant fairly well. Just go back to that. R&R #2 is totally played out.
I kinda like the new song but that'sbecause I like Van Halen...liked Crowd Chant really well, too. And just to say something positive about the Komet fans, we have traveled to most of the arenas in all the leagues we have played in and I am glad we don't do that stupid "and they still suck" after the opponents penalty is over and the announcers says they are now at full strength...the vast majority of others teams fans do this and it just seems so lame.

The thing about the Rangers goal song is that they made it themselves, it's original to them and I don't like it when other teams use it. It would be like some team using the Lets Go Komets song we made but changing the team name like let's go icemen (god forbid) lol I just wish the komets would resolve this issue with a fan vote and we can all be happy and move on, because we can all conclude nobody likes the current one. Also who else can't stand the stupid bright pink and green and other random colors when the team comes on the ice? Looks so generic, why not just have the welcome to the jungle animation? Oh well nothing we can do about the marketing department but complain and hope were heard since we are the major source of revenue

We have had a goal song controversy here in E-ville the past 2 seasons also. They switched from RRP2 from our forst 3 years to the Rangers goal song last year. Everybody hated it. This year, they switched again to Zombie Nation. I hate it but the crowd clps throughout. I Liked what the komets did with Crowd Chant and the bell for each goal scored. i have not been up there yet this year, but have heard other fans say they do not like the Van Halen song.
