Tailing the Komets

Back-up plan for Schaus

Currently, the Komets don't know if defenseman Nick Schaus will be back in time from Norfolk for this weekend's games. They expect to hear for sure by tomorrow.

If Schaus is staying in Norfolk, they will likely call up a player from Dayton. Whether it's a forward or a defenseman could depend on the recommendation from Dayton's coach Mark LeFebvre, with the thinking that Colten Hayes or Scott Kishel could play forward if necessary.

My guess is they'd call up Brayden Metz, who was in the Komets' training camp. He's leading the Federal Hockey League in scoring with 19 points in nine games, and just as importantly is plus-9.

Right now the Komets have only 17 players on the active roster and each team is allowed to dress 18 on game nights.

Eric Giosa tried skating today on his ankle that has a stress fracture in it, but he's at least another two or three weeks away from coming back.
