Tailing the Komets

Nick Schaus's replacement is....

Since defenseman Nick Schaus was recalled to Norfolk of the American Hockey League and won't be back this weekend, the Komets need another player. They have called up forward Mike Hoban from Dayton of the Federal Hockey League. Hoban, who was in training camp with the Komets, has eight goals and 14 points in nine games this season with the Demonz (stupid name), and is plus-8.

Why Hoban and not Brayden Metz who leads the FHL in scoring?

``We just went with Hoban because he's a little more of an energy guy,'' Komets General Manager David Franke said. ``No real reason why one over the other. We just thought Hoban would make a  better fit right now with what we need.''

In other news, Eric Giosa skated for the second day this week at practice. We'll see next week if that works out if it updates his goal for coming off injured reserve.

Now come on, you can't give them a rap like that for what you say a "stupid name". I have seen in certain hockey circles where they give the Fort Wayne Komets heck for spelling Komets with a "K". We take offense to that! The Dayton Demonz is one of our affiliates and we need to show them some love.
