Yep, it's like crickets around here again.
Why is it that after a win nobody ever wants to say much on here, but when there's negative stuff to be said, you can't get some people to shut up? That usually means means things turn personal and sometimes get out of control.
Do some people just need to have the license to gripe? Are they only happy if they can complain? Do they look forward to losing so they can go off?

A squeaker of a win against a .500 Elmira team is hardly something to celebrate.
So true. I understand fans like to discuss losses and point out what is frustrating them about the team. Of course fans have every right to complain and voice their concerns. The part that confuses me is there will be almost zero comments or opinions voiced after a win or two or three. Oh well, hope this type of play continues for awhile...keep it up guys!!! Good job coach Sims and players!
What a great game. The boys did a lot better than they have before and it shows. That is the pride everyone is talking about. Good job by the whole team. Win or lose I will always support this team.
Dare to say Blake. Love that attitude! Your confidence must mean you are, um.....honestly, embarrassingly.... correct. I dont make it much on bc im 3 time zones away, but the 2 games I saw vs Gwinnett in person, we played well. We play well every night, too often we forget there's 23 other teams out there playing for respect and their jobs . The dead horses beat year after year havent changed like the people who start them. But I wouldnt feel good about myself if it werent for the h3ll raisers. Respect Blake, we all need constructive criticism and our hind ends time to time.
You want positive attitudes regardless of the outcome? Go watch Wildcar baseball. If a professional player/team sucks they're going to hear about it. it's that simple. You'll have the fans who will think the team can do no wrong and the fans that can recognize areas that need improvement.Welcome to a public forum where all opinions can be discussed and not just the yay team cheerleaders. 2 wins against 2 bad teams isn't exactly something to write home about. Yes, the PK has looked a LOT better but the defense still needs destroyed and rebuilt. It's a start but there's still a LONG ways to go and even further from "I told you so."
Right on! Stridulant... Stridulant... Stridulant...
Gloom despair and agony on me will return sometime after Jan 2. BAM24's wife will take the leash off and we will have to read his soap opera. We are gonna win the championship even if i have to hover over the team like that huge cloud in the movie kingpin.
If your gonna belly ache about a player tell us exactly what you would do to fix the situation, then take into account how it affects all areas of the organization.
As the overwhemingly number of minor pro hockey teams that fail can attest it aint easy Jack.
I will say this, if i was in minor hockey and i played in Fort Wayne I would understand that I know my paycheck will be there everyweek, my rent will be paid, there is reliable safe transport to away games, my equipment will all be there and all i have to do is practice in the morning, hit the weight room, watch a little film, eat right and play the game I love in the evening. Hey I would do it in a heartbeat even with Sheepwig stinky feet as my team mate.
Every boy grows up dreaming about being a pro athlete and I was one of those
NYE is the fans game, thats our game 10,000 of us show up and fill the joint. This is OUR night, this is where we earn our bragging rights, if you people come to Fort Wayne NYE bring your best because you gotta play in front of 10,000 people that own that arena and a loss on that night is unacceptable, apologies will not be accepted or tolerated.
This Komets team needs to go out and kick the ever livin snot out of whoever shows up New Years Eve because we are 10,000 strong, this is OUR night OUR game and you must win, this is one of those nights that form your history as a Komet.
WE DONT LOSE THIS GAME NOR TIE IT NOR LOSE IN A SHOOTOUT, tired is for losers and losses are for the other teams to expect and worry about.
You can count on it, they want their names etched in Komet history, we walked in on one of fort waynes biggest nights in front of the 2nd largest fan base in all of minor league hockey and we stuck it to them and thier 10,000 fans.
Plus, hasn't the blog been dead for a long time now? You'd think you would welcome the extra comments regardless if they match your cheerleader outfit or not
Never said you have to be effusive in your praise, but there had to be something you liked/appreciated/approved of somewhere, right? If not, why do you go if you are so miserable?
Not saying you had to like the whole game, either. Was there anything you liked?
It's simply a discussion point, not an indictment. Why so defensive?
People at the game last night were saying the game was 6 t0 5 because of the officals but it wasnt it was are lazy defense i dont care if they score everynight they are lazy & allow to many shooting lanes for scoring chances ...Henley & Maggio need to go bye bye
I never said fans should be gushing about how amazing the team is now. Rainbows and unicorns? No I would think that doesn't even happen after a championship. Just hoped to see a little more thoughts on the wins too...not just the losses. Simple as that.
You mean like my complimenting the PK? There's a big difference between being a negative person and pointing out the brutally obvious when the team is playing awful. Some people dont realize the water those in the Komets sweaters are skating on is frozen and others are realists. I'll think for myself 100% of the time instead of drinking the kool-aid and following the crowd to the ledge
I don't know who you are responding to orange krush but I only said it would be nice to see several comments after wins..not just losses. That is my opinion. I never said you should drunk kool aid, I never said fans should only post positive comments. I understand both negative and positive.
I wasn't at the game last night, so I cannot comment on anything other than what has been reported or what can be interpreted from reading the score sheet. A win is obviously better than a loss. Plus, Elmira went into Cincy the other night and won--not an easy task.
However, it is troubling that a two goal lead evaporated in the last ten minutes. It is troubling that the Ks continue to take twice as many penalties as their opposition.
Maybe the boys got David Franke's message, maybe they didn't. However, you will never convince me that the Ks are a better team with the current roster than they would be with Lasch and Caputi in the lineup. I don't care about the bogus "buying into the system" bs. There was no point in having Lasch in street clothes for both of Norfolk's games this weekend and for Caputi to only play one. I am glad that the Ks got two wins, but in the long run they need help from Norfolk and I don't think that the Frankes will ever get over their stubbornness to see that.
I have got to admit how astounded I am to read this thread.
"...but when there's negative stuff to be said, you can't get some people to shut up? That usually means things turn personal and sometimes get out of control."
Funny. That sure sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.
OK, let's talk about the game. I'm really not sure what I watched last night. Sure, I'm happy with the win and, as hockey games go, it had a whole lot of action and was exciting. The Komets scored six goals, came back twice to take leads, scored on the power play, scored shorthanded, and Kaleigh Schrock had a goal and three assists. He has found the net and as much a critic of him I was during the first twenty two games, he has turned his season around offensively.
I also watched Elmira score five goals, be particularly efficient on the power play, and was amazed as I watched the previously mentionesd Schrock take the most stupid penalty with about seven minutes to go while enjoying a two goal lead. Two things here, just skate away or make sure you take someone with you. He did neither, and as a result, they scored a goal about 40 seconds after the penalty was called. It brought the lead down to one. With that much time remaining, it is like a 'new" game. Obviously they did score to tie the game and you could almost feel the air go out of the building. Until that moment, Schrock had a nice game going. Still, I want my team to know where they are in the game. Two goal lead, seven minutes to go, I don't want anyone in the box. Especially someone who wears an "A' on his jersey. He is supposed to be a leader. Sometimes you have to lead by example instead of leading with your fists.
The sixth Komet goal came on a freak play with 41 seconds left. I'll take it and a large part of it was Schrock's hustle. A win is a win and I'll take the two points.
Now, about this thread. I find it highly abrasive and wonder how you can criticize any contributor while not mentioning or judging David Franke for his comments last week? No wonder comments and those who post them have disappeared so much in the last 18 months.
There were a lot of better ways to get your point across without antagonizing those ( whatever thoughts they might have) with your sarcastic style.
( Another thing. Your thread was posted at 11:29pm after the game. Do you really think that most go directly to this thread after a game?)
Sometimes your logic escapes me.
you wont win blake. some people just dont get it.
I sure miss the old days, personal attacks, taking sides and ganging up on Komet Warrior MAN! This blog needs some good drama, we aint had our hands slapped in a long while. Somebody call me an idiot and tell me i don't know my hockey, that will get it started, Jack!.
Alan: well said. Well said. Thank you.
Orange Krush: great analysis of the game. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. No one believed they'd win last night....who knows what could happen tomorrow?
this is better than any soap opera on television... this could be the next big thing on TLC ..
Thank you Blast and Blueline Baby. Just trying to keep the record straight. To Chuckitt, I do get it!! I'm just not willing to get my nose dirty like some others I know. To Phil I don't know what the heck I'm typing Chifley, you're the one that I don't "get".
According to the Komets roster list, they are showing a forward named Brayden Metz #72 on the roster. He is from Dayton. I havem't seen any news of this on either blog site. Pretty good stats. But they are FHL games so hard to tell. Not sure if he is replacing an injured player or even if someone is injured.
This might be a nice place to be able to get information. Sorry if that sounded sarcastic. I am just following the lead of the moderator and this thread.
Gee, and I didn't name names, I simply asked some honest questions. Guess I got the answer.
Seems some fans would rather see the Komets lose. No, that's not sarcastic, just an observation based on postings.
Happy new year!
So within a week of critical comments by certain fans, writers, and general managers (not naming names.) Norfolk has yanked Caputi, Lasch, and Brittain. Hope it was worth it. The Komets have lost their leading goal scorer (Brittain), and two guys that average over a point a game. But it's cool Schrock is on fire.
Let's hope Marino has a cape and phone booth nearby.
Maybe we need how to work with an affiliation since we're in the ECHL?
Just a reminder Blake, regardless of the outcome of tonights game don't expect people to rush home to get on your blog. You're not nearly as big of a deal as you like to think you are.
Happy New Year, everyone!
Don't worry, Hit, never thought I was. Bye bye.
For a professional journalist you sure have a funny way of asking questions. You could have asked your questions, found out what the blog was thinking, without resorting to that accusatory, abrasive style. Every once in a while you seem to get in moods that are hard to describe. If you didn't expect some backlash after you posted the thread, you aren't as smart as I thought. A few contributors on this blog have spoken with me and congratulated me for taking you to task.
I wish you would've talked to both David and Michael Franke. I wish you would've interviewed both Lasch and Caputi. Maybe a phone call to Bob Ferguson might have been very interesting.
I want Komet fans to be asking the hard questions. That doesn't mean they aren't fans, it means they care. This team has won two in a row. Good for them. They still have a long, long way to go. The number of goals allowed is unacceptable and isn't the kind of statistic that offers a lot of hope. It's an area that needs to be fixed. Should I be labeled a Komet hater because I point this out? No one wants this team to succeed more than me. I want them to play with the kind of effort that, at least, makes me think they care. Sometimes that effort shows up, sometimes it doesn't ( especially at home).
So now we learn that Brittain has been called up and Cousineau has been sent back. We need goal scorers. Don't get fooled by the six goal outburst of Saturday evening. No way is that to be perpetual especially with Brittain gone. Norfolk seems to be yanking our scorers out from underneath us. But good for Brittain, he deserves his promotion. I hope they play him.
So to everybody, those who agree with me and may enjoy my posts AND those who don't, have a safe and happy new year. Be careful tonight ( remember the saga of Billy Elvis last year). Have fun and as always, GO KOMETS!!!
Where's Phil Chumply? The Komets got lit up tonight. They were disinterested and generally pathetic. The ol' "casual fan" got a good look at this year's squad. Perhaps a letter of apology to Norfolk is in order?
Giosa, Marino, Butler, and Rizk are the only guys that look like they belong out there.
Any idea when Baby DAB will be back with the team?
I assume we won't be victims of another verbal dressing down by the blog master?
Effinger, stop the black rubber thing from going in the net behind you, please.
Preach it Blake. Funny how some people can read an observation that noticeable by many and automatically get defensive. Clearly it's a personal problem. Thank you for telling it like ibis. Even if people can handle the truth.
