Tailing the Komets

It's scoreless after one

Kenny Reiter makes a pad save on Toledo's Brandon Svendsen during the first period. The Walleye out-shot the Komets 13-5 during the first period as the Komets are obviously concentrating on their defense.

When the other team keeps you in your zone, you have no other choice....

How many Anaheim prospects were involved inToledo's goal just now? I think this team has a lot more problems than we fans are aware of... Just don't seem to play with heart most of the time

Our two biggest defensemen are minus 3 we don't hit on home ice and we are playing lazy hockey can't use the fatigue excuse tonight or the lack of defense from Norfolk guys...

The was just plain pathetic tonight no excuses on that one look like a team who has no confidence when it was 3-0 nobody step up to try and energize this hockey team. Second night in a row the give up 4 goals in second after a scoreless first period. The only options are to hope they snap out of this or to make a trade to try to shake things up. I believe they will not trade anyone just has not been their thing over the last couple of years perhaps some hope will come via waiver wire.

Which Norfolk player can catch the blame for tonight's loss?

Also, the dancing fool with the tshirts needs to go away and never return. Management does everything in their power to remove fan chants and fan inspired energy but instead replace it with this guy. Remember when the crowds didn't need free tshirts to make noise during the games? That was before Dudley Do-Right came to his once in every 5 years game and wrote a letter to the editor. What's the point of even sending Icy out there with this clown doing his job? Gotta feel bad for the Icy's with their job being made less and less every year since the addition of the jumbotron.

This t-shirt jerk was in Missouri last year when we went for the playoffs and by the third period the fans were threatening to push the guy through the glass...guess that must have impressed our team management guys that made that trip! How sad the crowd participation has come down to this junk...maybe they should put
an exciting team on the ice and see what happens!

I guess I just don't see where all the hatred for the T-shirt guy comes from. The fans went crazy wherever he went, and that was about as much excitement as there has been in that arena in a while. The only one's bashing him are on the blogs.

Mr Franke is right. This isn't Komet Hockey. On the ice, or in the Arena. They have taken away everything that the fans used to get pumped up about like the goal song and all the other chants that got people fired up and cheering on the team. I might as well be watching the game on my friggin' T.V.! The atmosphere is totally gone. That's one of the reasons I go to the games instead of listening on the radio!

As far as the team goes, now that the lines are juggled around since Lasch and Caputi left, and Klotz is back in, we can expect to see this for a while until the new lines get in sync. Until then, it's gonna be a tough road. Glad to see the PP finally come to life! Maybe some of our defensemen need to follow Hegarty's lead and learn how to Hip Check. He threw 3 of them last night and totally busted up the play! At this point in their careers, and this far into the season, stickhandling shouldn't be the problem it looks to be right now.

For the team to pay close to $2000 to bring Cameron Hughes in to throw tshirts to the crowd is a joke. I seriously doubt that if the guy didn't throw tshirts that he would get half the reaction that he does. Send Icy or anyone else out on the ice during intermission with tshirts or anything else to throw in the crowd and there's just as much noise. Instead of wasiting money to bring in this guy, allow the crowd to make noise and get into the game without taking away all of their fun.

What happens when people are still watching Cameron right after play starts up and a kid or anyone else for that matter takes a puck to the head?  That extra $2000 could have went towards ordering more bobbleheads so all STH could recieve one, heaven forbid a team show some appreciation to their diehards instead of taking them for granted.

If management feels the need to bring in entertainment for the crowd (and I'm perfectly okay with that) have it be for intermission acts suchs as the Zooperstars, Russian Bar Trio, Birdzerk, Quickchange, etc. etc.

Yes, we all know the only thing the Franke's reply to are "Letters To The Editor" from people who go to games once every 5 years when they get free tickets so this is all for nothing but I'm still allowed to express my opinion

I was not impressed by the t-shirt throwing guy. He was distracting in my opinion. I dont need to be lulled into a frenzy by the promise of a free (sweaty) t-shirt. I am more than happy to purchase one to get behind my team. Get rid of him and show me some more Icy. Watching Icy's antics and crowd participation are sometimes more entertaining than the game itself.

The t-shirt guy did a great job. He entertained when play was stop. It is the the teams job to entertain during the game. If he was a distraction obviously the team wasn't doing their job. Stop passing the puck up the zone on home side, Toledo knows that one.
