Great article Blake. I wonder how much the economy and inflation has to do with attendance as well. I just found a 91-92 season ticket order form in a old program I was looking through. DId you know that a seat for that season in what was considered lower arena was $235.00. Isn't the price over $500.00? And that was in the old "AAA" IHL days.

Blake, an article that should be published in the local newspaper in every minor hockey league town. On the money! Larry DePalma sold tickets. Rick Hayward sold tickets( Old IHL guys from the early-mid nineties for anyone wondering). Just watching those guys in warm-ups you could feel the tension in the coliseum.

The ECHL should have a 4th pro description( each team allowed 1, regardless of pro years) and thats a player the other teams fans hate.

You can also do an article with the headline "Unfamiliar with Komets"? I can't remember ever feeling so distant/unfamiliar/disconnected or whatever term you want to use about one of our komet teams as I feel this year. I am not sure what we have. Or what will stay the same. Or what may change next week. Or what player belongs to what higher level team or who is here on loan or who is assigned here for how long. I have friends coming in from Michigan to watch the game on Sunday. Last night one of them called and ask me to tell them about the team and what my thoughts are. The first thing out of my mouth was "Uhhh". From there I did not offer alot more thought of any value. It felt weird then and it still feels weird today. My wife reminded me that there was a game Wednesday and the best I could offer was Oh. who do we play? What has happened to me? All I can come up with is unfamiliar=disconnected. Even that doesn't feel or sound right. Oh well, welcome to the ECHL right?

Where are all the fans that wanted this change? They werr able to rag on the UHL IHL2 and CHL, wanting this "higher" ECHL level of play.

Haven't you figured out by now that some fans will simply never be satisfied?  Lol.

Burgee, they are simply enjoying a much better level of hockey here in the ECHL... Are you attempting to start an arguement where there doesnt need to be one?

I enjoy the ECHL. Personally, I get tired of seeing the same teams all the time. I actually look forward to the games against new teams we don't see that often. I like the rivalries we have against Evansville and Kalamazoo, but seeing them so many times in a row gets old. I understand why we play them so much though. Why is it that we haven't played Cincinnati yet but were heavy loaded with the Icemen and Wings early? They are all divisional games. When the lockout is over, the make up of the teams could be completely different. We could have two seperate halves of the season based on the rosters. Hopefully the Komets get healhy and get things going in the rught direction. Its been frustrating to watch them play at home to say the least.
As far as Burgee goes, he has been to MAYBE one game this year so his opinion of the new league doesn't matter. Nor should his opinion on anything else for that matter. We can always hope the NHL lockout comes to and end and a lockout of Burgee on this blog begins. Go Komets!

Wow...little harsh on whose opinion is worthy and whose is meaningless. I have not been able to make it to a game yet this year either but as a fan that follows the team every season through good and bad, I like to think my opinion is heard and respected. I am still up in the air as to how I feel about the ECHL because it is our first year and there is a lockout going on. I will say I am enjoying listening to the games and watching them online this year more so than some recent seasons. The losses don't get me as aggravated as last year. I don't see a lazy effort or games where they seem to be completely out of sync. I don't feel an urge to analyze every aspect of the bad games or find sometime or something to blame each loss on. just like most wins are a team effort, combined with a little luck and....losses are often the same thing...not caused by one thing in particular...other than luck, team effort and the fact that there has to be a winner and loser each game. ready for tonight and while a win would be fantastic...I mostly hope for a good, competitive game. Go Komets.

When we are winning there is nothing to fight, argue or discuss and I have only been to one pre season game but i still know more about Hockey than BAM. We dont see Cincy much cause geographically the other teams need to play them more. I am on the IR for another month unless someone would be nice and pick me up and take me to the game like bam, he lives a couple blocks over anddid doesnt visit or nothing.

Did your wife let you go to the game tonight bammie boy.

Blake has to keep his blog hits up so he keeps getting that big blog hit bonus $$$$$$$

There is always stuff to discuss, even when they are winning...  Goalie rotation, current line combos, how this team is playing without Chaulk, and a D pairing that is 1 and 2 in the league in minor penalties taken this season so far...

Without a good controversey or the team losing the hits go down. Thats why we need in fighting. We need a good fight like the old days.
