The Anaheim Ducks, NHL parent club of the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals and ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets, have reassigned forward Corey Elkins to the Komets from the Admirals. In addition, forward Luca Caputi and defenseman Nick Schaus have been returned on loan to Fort Wayne by Norfolk. The announcements were made today by Admirals Assistant General Manager Bob Ferguson.

This roster is gonna change more times in the month of January than i change underwear. Well we surpassed that already. How about more times than words in Alans posts. Its gonna change so fast youll thought youve fallen off the fiscal cliff.

I will not be accepting any free tickets to NHL games this year, i refuse to support the nhl and hope that 3 or 4 teams fold.

Chuckitt....please point out where a fan said Norfolk would "never" send us anymore players....  I dont think that happened...I could be mistaken though...

Plenty of fans, myself included, were baffled by the way the Komets brass handled this in the paper/blogs...  Why throw productive players under the bus like that???  Is it coincidence (or telling) that good Norfolk players are on their way back after the 9-4 debacle on NYE?

JR.. productive in whose eyes? really dont matter if you score 10 goals a game if your on the ice for 11. nobody has said those players sent down are not talented , but the frankes were correct calling out players playing for the name on the back rather than the crest on the front. the 9-4 drubbing had nothing to do with missing those guys called up, how soon you forget that we won 2 in a row without them. monday game was just one of those games, it happens every year where we get blowed out a game, and i really dont think 3 players would have made much of a difference. when the nhl goes back to work, this team will be fine with a few adjustments. i think al is still searching for that diamond in the rough on defense and i dont think he is here as of yet.

They used the words "never"???

I remember a bunch of people saying that "they" wouldnt send the Komets anyone else had their affiliate said those things in the press like the Komets did about Norfolk/Anaheim....  Those are the same fans who never wanted to see the Komets lose that caliber of player in the first place...

Off the post:  I am not sure what you consider productive; but goals win games...  Keeping pucks out of your net, wins games...  Being able to accomodate different playing styles into your systems in a developmental league, wins games...  Having AHL players to play against AHL players, wins games... Among other things of course; but this is a mainly affiliated, developmental level of hockey and shunning the affiliated players (especially in a lockout year like this) is plain silly, IMO...  Hero worshipping fans not realizing this are in for a long season and seasons to come if they do not embrace this concept...

The NYE game was the first where we only had 2 Norfolk players in the lineup (Hegarty, Klotz).  That was a "our guys" lineup and it didnt fare well....  Go ahead and dismiss that debacle that happened in front of 10103 fans ( a majority of which are the casual fans the Frankes covet)....  Coincidence that 3 Norfolk players where enroute shortly there after?  Maybe.....

im not a hero worshiping fan JR.. simply one thats played the game my entire life..so.. you saying our goaltenders are not on par with other teams? because they got beat like rented mules monday night. and were you at the game monday night? because they could have put 3 nhl guys out there and the outcome would have been the same .. your still forgetting the 2 games we won with only klotz , brittain and hegarty from the affiliates? we sucked monday night, pure and simple.. no finger pointing.. no "our players", no "affiliate" players"... we sucked ! the "komets" didnt get it done.. and the one thing that sticks out is.. once they put on a komets jersey, they play for the komets! the best player on the ice the last 5 games has been the local kid.. the one you all were calling for his head.. i tryto refrain from posting here, but after so many horrible opionions, i cant help myself.. keep telling yourselves how much you know the game.. glad your not our GM

So, off the post, your opinion counts more because you have played the game?  Organized hockey, I hope, because I have played pond hockey all my life; but would not consider my opinion any better than anyone elses...  Besides, I have never seen you give any pearls of "inside hockey wisdom" in any of your posts?  Did you ever make it to the point, as a profession, where you were ever sent down to another level to work on a certain aspect of your game?  These guys are all sent down to this level in hopes they will improve their game enough to benefit the AHL or NHL squad.

And when you put on the Komets jersey you play for the Komets; but that also pertains to the people providing the jersey...  You have to support the players coming in.  You do not publically trash players producing offensively because "your guys" are feeling left out in the locker room...  You give them all the tools necessary to produce effectively for their new team.  They have stated in the news that there has been very little practicing lately due to the game and holiday schedules...  Just when are guys like Caputi, Lasch, or anyone else not assigned to the team in training camp supposed to learn this Komets system with no or little practicing?  You cannot totally "buy in" to a system until you have been given the chance to learn and practice the system.  "Our guys" not producing is not a Norfolk guys fault...

Also, I didnt forget anything; but the NYE game was the first game where every offensively producing Norfolk/Anahiem player was out of the lineup including Brittain.  All those lazy, non-backchecking, in it for themselves affiliated players who play no defense were out of the lineup.  End result: 9-4...  I truly wish the outcome would have been reversed, for the Komets sake...

as a matter of fact JR i was sent down when i played competitivly. i also have the pleasure to continue to be involved with alot of x players here and quite a few within the organization now. we talk alot and because i dont offer opionions that you find valuable does not mean i do not read and pay attention as well as understand the game. its only a few bloggers that i chose to respond to because they like to be blog bullys...and their comments to other bloggers and and their opinions could not be so much farther than the truth. i read this blog because i LOVE hockey . i started reading the blog because blake offered alot of knowledgible hockey trivia and retrospect (i wish he would get back to more of it) . to bad a few certain bloggers make this site less desireable daily

JR, you say that these guys were sent down to Ft Wayne to improve, play, and potentially help the AHL team.  Well that's not true for every one of these guys; quite frankly, some of these guys are being buried.  The organization doesn't want these guys anymore and don't think enough of them to waste an AHL spot on them.  Caputi played in the NHL and is in the ECHL now.  Cousineau has never cracked an AHL roster and do you think they believe in the last year of his deal that he is anything other than a total bust?  Hmmmm.  The fact is, some of these guys are in the last year of their contracts and the big club is more invested in guys on the front end of their deals than the guys that have had their chance to prove themselves and it's obvious the organization is burying them...

That is completely correct and part of being a lower affiliate. It was also true when the Komets were affiliates of the Red Wings and Panthers in the past. That worked to the Komets' benefit then because those guys mostly liked it here and wanted to stay here the next year when they were free agents. That's who we got guys like Hurd, Dupuis, Boyce, Lambert, Essensa, Davidson, Richard, guys who became the core of the team. Most of the time it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it works best when are team doesn't have an affiliation and can pick and choose whom they want, which how they got guys from Quebec and Buffalo, etc in the early 90s.

Andy Sherman, sometimes it pays to do a little research....

Schaus, Caputi, Klotz, are all Norfolk contracted players signed to AHL SPC's.....  Some of thier "core" guys...

Lasch, Brittain, Hegarty, Cousineau, Kennedy, Elkins are all Anahiem contracted players...  Cousineau was resigned by the Ducks in July.  Lasch and Elkins are on 2 year contracts signed this past off season, and the rest are playing on their entry level contracts signed with Anaheim.

Most years you would be correct that players are sometimes buried at the ECHL level for various reasons; but in this NHL lockout season, I do not see this being the case.  Some, if not most, of these are numbers game assignments.  It does no one any good if your guys are sitting in the stands for too long.

geez jr    dont think for a second that just becasue someone was just signed cant be already be labeled a bust  and buried in ft wayne. two guys with nhl experience and all of a sudden they are in ft wayne instead of the ahl??? raised my eyebrows a little.  its like a free agent in baseball haveing a great season in his last year then getting a big contract then stinking up the place. dont ever assume just because a guys under contract that hes always a golden boy.

oh and by the way, you might not call people names but you sure attack those who have opinions differnt than your own.  off the posts opinions might not be special beacause he played but his experience and knowledge do count for a lot. opinion are just that, opinions. but his insight into things matters to me cause i too have played the game a long time  and i know where  hes comming from and i think we both know the internal workings of an organization. and believe me, lots goes on and lots of thngs are discussed that youll never hear about.!

Elkins, really...some 24 games played, 3 goals, 1 assist and those 3 goals came as a hat trick...sounds like another winner we have to place on the roster.

Placing Effinger on reserve while we have to play Marco....not really for this either.

If you are going to send players to help, send some with credentials worth having us play them....

Thanks for being around Blake.
