Tailing the Komets

Some updates

Scott Kishel, John Dunbar and Mike Hoban are all out for this weekend, but Charlie Effinger is back and Larkin Saalfrank has been released from his emergency goaltending gid.

Komets General Manager David Franke also said he expects Colin Chaulk to return to the lineup next weekend.

``He's put a lot of good days back-to-back, and I think he's going to play next weekend,'' Franke said. ``That's what we're looking at right now.''

Chaulk agrees.

``It feels good,'' he said. ``I still had some other stuff that has gone on after my infection. I had some stuff with my left arm, but my foot feels pretty good. There's still some swelling after skating, but it's all closed up and there's very, very little pain. tomororw. I'm not 100 percent but I'm close. It's exciting.''

Not sure where you saw that but he's still listed on the Admirals' active roster and has been since Jan. 10. He has not been playing a lot, though.

On the AHL statistics page for Norfolk he is listed as no longer with the team.

Beats me. Norfolk will probably put a release out next Wednesday. Komets would love to have him.

If you do a player search for Nick Schaus on the AHL website, it lists him as "inactive".  This leads me to believe that his is on IR.

I know the ECHL site only lists active players on the team rosters and not players on the 21 day IR, so if you would look up the Komets, you would see that Colin Chaulk is not listed on the Komets roster and also has an "X" by his name on the stats page that is defined as "no longer with team".  We know that Chaulk is still with the team, only on IR...  This may be the case with the AHL website and Schaus...

No I dont think that is the case, because I dont see anywhere that the AHL has players go on injured reserve, They can have as many players on the roster as they want, I only see plaiyers on injured reserve in the ECHL and NHL because of the league rules for amounts of players allowed.

I think someone should see if hes availabe, would be the best thing to help this team for the stretch run GO KOMETS !!!

Why do the Komets continue to play a man short in these must win games? Especially when Sims says they are tired from too many games. They had plenty of time this week to call a guy up to help out.

Could be a couple of different things. Two of the guys they might want to call up, Jeremy Gates and Brayden Metz, have been picked up by other teams in CHL.

The schedule also hasn't been that bad of late. They've only played back-to-back games three times since Jan. 14. And really, how productive has the 10th forward been this year?

They had a really good week at practice and are changing some things up. We'll see how they look the next three days.

Anybody else notice how much the forwards have quit taking so many penalties?
