Good choices Blake. I agree with you 100%.

Most valuable player: Brandon Marino.... this is a no brainer.

Unsung hero: Nick Wheeler for Blake's stated reasons. Or Beauregard... He led the team in goals with 23 (20 of which had to be scored on the road?) but he went about it in about the most quiet manner I've ever seen a guy lead the Komets in goals.

Defensive forward: J.M. Rizk

Best defenseman: 8 way tie. I'd put Nycholat's name in the hat twice if I had to draw one randomly. He had the same points as Butler with a better +/-.

Mr. Hustle: Brandon Marino. Dunbar could have been an option had he played more.

Rookie of the year: Hegarty or Firman

Wiegmann Family True Komet: Chuck Effinger. From all accounts, he faced a lot of adversity and continued to be a steady force of positivity while the team tanked. Smitty isn't a bad choice either.

Most Improved Player: Ryan Hegarty or Matt Firman whichever one I don't give Rookie of the Year to.

Bud Gallmeier Award for Community Service: Chaulk. Butler wins if Twitter counts.

I applaud JM for his picks.

If I were to change anything it would be to make the MVP award a co-MVP award and to add Kenny Reiter along with Brandon Marino.  Reiter would also be the Rookie of the Year.

Effinger is a wonderful choice for the True Komet of the Year award.  He was bounced around so much that I believe he never felt comfortable, and yet took it all in stride and answered the "call" all year long when asked.  Maybe I would make this a co-winner also and add Brett Smith to this list.  He always showed leadership and played bigger than his size.

I'm in agreement or the most part, but I just can't get on the Hegarty bandwagon just yet. In my eyes didn't see that much improvement. The giveaways at the start of the season were just as bad and abundent in the end. He and  Shauss would get their asses saved with a good goaltending effort over and over. In fact, I dubbed the two of them THE COUGH UP TWINS. They need another year b4 they will be able to be a factor on any team. IMO !

Mr. Hustle-Smith, Wheeler or Marino all come to mind.

Wiegmann - nice comments to put Charlie's name in there...I would think him over Smith, but like them both.

Defenseman-wow, Butler would not get my vote....not impressed with him overall....Hegarty or my favorite not in attendance right now would be Henley.....have at this one

Agree with most of the rest.

Congrats to everyone that one tonight but I was really disappointed that Wheeler didnt get something.....he was one of my faves this year. Sometimes he plays like he thinks he's 6'2" or something. lol
