Ok, gonna chime in here.....

1.  I am sure Charlie Effinger is a great guy and a good locker room presence and his attitude is admirable.....; but his numbers just do not support him being a number 1 goalie in the ECHL...  Young defense aside, his team worst goals against average and save percentage just do not give me the #1 goalie vibe for this league...  Rebounds killed him in the CHL Finals and they killed him this season in the ECHL...

2.  Alaska's roster (after you take away the NHL players from the lockout) has 3 Alaskan's....one of which is Dustin Molle...  2 forwards only one of which has impressive numbers in the ECHL...  Alaska is good because their owners go all out to put the best team on the ice and even though they sat atop the standings in the West, they still were not happy and made a few moves at the trade deadline...  They do not rest on their laurels or over vlaue a roster that has been proven lacking...

Andy how do i know you havent at this level  is you dont talk like a hockey player and i know my facts 100% i just said kevin reiter was the starter the first year they won and sometimes as player you see things different and just dont look at there numbers ...winning takes heart and true love for the game I Think Charlie has that more ..he dont get in fights with his own players in front a crowd and he dont look to blame everybody for a goal like Nick Boucher ..I think somebody on here always has to be right im not that dude ..i can say how i feel nick and charlie ...i would have charlies back ...

It seems that there is a lot of talk about the goalies. I thought the goalies, whom ever was in net were not the problem this year, they were the bright spot. Our defense has been awful, and our offense is afraid to crash the net. It is sad when the smallest guys on the team play the biggest. So I hate to burst bubbles here, but any goalie this year would not have had a stellar year, so be thankful of who we had, and have because they have been the best part of this team all season.

Thank you JR...I agree on both of your points, and well said I might add.  Blaine, how do hockey players talk?  From reading your posts I would guess it's full of bad punctuation and poor grammar?  How do you know there aren't players on this blog-everyone knows there are fake names on here.  Now, the first year they won Kevin Reiter wasn't the starter.  They split all season except when Boucher was hurt for a month and a half.  The reason Haun played?  Boucher missed significant time due to injury. Those are facts.  Again, usually knowing the facts help in a debate.  Go back and check the box scores on pointstreak or the archives from the papers.  I wonder- do you even live in FTW?  I checked your hockeydb and it says you're Canadian and you've never played here so I wonder why you would be in FTW?  Now, I've never seen you on the blog, and welcome to it.  More debate and healthy discussion is what this blog is about and I truly enjoy engaging in discussion about my team.  But when one of the first things you say is "I have played in this league" and then go on to basically say that because you played that you know more and that your opinion is more relevant because of that fact is hogwash.  If that's what you need to say to validate your opinion then you just end up making yourself look conceited and egotistic.  Blake has covered this team for many years.  Does his opinion lack validation because he never played pro hockey?  Our GM never played the game.  Does he not know hockey after watching it for decades?  You say winning takes heart?  Well Nick has been a part of 5 championships (according to Elite Prospects).  I guess there's no heart there right?  How about playing on two bad hips for several seasons.  Or, as Blake said, getting his knee shot up in order to play game seven against Missouri last season and beating Charlie on one leg and two bad hips.  No heart...?  I think a lot of us believe (at least I do) that he has been the best pressure goalie the Komets have ever had.  His record in elimination play off games?  Undefeated.  DO I think he has had the most talent?  I dunno.  St. Pierre and Lawson fit the big butterfly goalie mold more than Nick and Lawson played a a very high level-reaching the top Russian leage.  And maybe you like Charlie's personality and attitude more than Nick's which is fine.  Patrick Roy was notoriously hard on his teammates and no one ever accused him of not having heart or debating his legacy.  He demanded a lot of his team and of himself.  Charlie, as I have said, has been the consumate pro, and model teammate.  But that in no way can reduce the five seasons we had Nick in the pipes and the fact that Nick's jersey will probably be hanging from the rafters in the future.  Do I know how Nick would have fared this season under the circumstances?  Of course not.  No one does.  It would be absolute, pure speculation to guess how he would have played-that cannot be debated.  I would guess Al would have had more trust in him than any of the goalies given his record here and the latitude he most likely would have had.  In my estimation that would have probably bought him the benefit of the doubt over some of his partners. That said,  Kenny seemed to thrive under the circumstances and earn his starts and play consistently well despite all the hurdles that all three goalies faced early in the season.  The same cannot be said for Marco or Charlie.

Man ...Andy im really sorry to say this but you know your hockey but your wrong about one thing Kevin Reiter was the starter that first year and Nick Boucher was added a little later in the year after coming back from europe...

Just to prove my point and to show that you are completely misinformed about that season, here is the box score (http://www.pointstreak.com/templatepreview/pro/gamesheet_full.html?gameid=527806) of the first game Boucher played for FTW, on Nov 3 2007.  He was added from the Mississippi Riverkings.  It was FTW's fifth game of the season according to pointstreak.  Also, I found out the game he was injured in, and when his first game back was after injury.  Injury Dec 27, 2007: (http://www.pointstreak.com/templatepreview/pro/gamesheet_full.html?gameid=533755) and return Jan 25, 2007 (http://www.pointstreak.com/templatepreview/pro/gamesheet_full.html?gameid=533876) a total of 14 games missed.  League leaders that year: (http://www.pointstreak.com/templatepreview/pro/goalieleaders.html?leagueid=257&seasonid=2122)  Wow Boucher was 24 wins and 2 losses.  Reiter had 48 games, to Boucher's 31.  14 games missed due to injury and Boucher didn't arrive until game 5 of the season.  So if you split the 14 games due to injury and gave 7 to Nick and take seven from Kevin it's 41 games to 38.  Add the fact that Kevin started the first 4 because Nick wasn't on the team yet, then it's a 50/50 split in games all season.  Case, and point thank you!  Playoffs...(http://www.pointstreak.com/templatepreview/pro/goalieleaders.html?leagueid=257&seasonid=2566)  Still think Nick was the backup?  Or was it even? (minus the injury)  Evidence speaks for themself.

Hockey is like soccer, it is a losers game....last year it was Nick and Charlie and Charlie was one goal off.  Great defense is nice, so is great defense, put it together with great goal tending like Charlie and Nick and we may have it all.

As a comment on all the previous books being written....it would be nice if some of U could be more concise in your postings.

Lets hope for the best next season and best wishes to Nick and Charlie wherever they may go.

Wow, I did not know this was the Andy and Blaine blog...why not try speaking nicely to each other about the topics at hand and not demeaning each other....certainly would be nice.

Sorry guys.  Not meaning to be demeaning or anything.  I am just attempting to use facts and stats and numbers to support what I am saying, instead of just blindly throwing stuff out there.  It's concrete and tangible and quite frankly, irrefutable.

Hey Andy im done after this but you know what  your talking for the most part and you should never bad mouth somebody on the way they talk or grammer ...i was telling you Nick Boucher started the 2007-08 in Holland i was asst. coach there and we played against him then he came back to the states to play for  the riverkings then the komets ..holland stats dont always show up on hockeydb ..i was saying Kevin Reiter deserve credit because he was the starter coming out of camp and won 32 games ...i dont think charlie deserves to be bad mouthed because this whole team had problems and i dont think netminders were are problems ...and i know your no hockey player when you talk about grammer and write a book as a comment your a hockey geek and numbers arent my thing only PIM ..

Haha, says the guy who spelled grammar "grammer", our "are" and you're "your".  OK, I guess I'm the one that needs the english lesson.  Listen, I wasn't the one who came onto the blog and stuck my chest out and implied to everyone quite clearly, that because you played the game that you are more knowledgeable than us.  Why is an ex-player even wasting his time on this blog with us mere mortals then?  All you have done in your last post was back pedal from your earlier statements that you so adamantly asserted as being factual.  In the face of tanglible proof and numbers, basically everything you said was innacurate.  First you say Charlie is an amazing goalie, then "I don't think any goalie looks amazing" .  First Kevin was the starter the first season they won, and now "the starter coming out of camp".  Then Haun carried the load, and we all know Boucher was hurt that season and then come playoff time did the job as always.  Which is it?  You're contradicting yourself.  Who has been bad mouthing Charlie?  I've complemented him on how he has handled himself this season.  I don't think his play has been very impressive and from what I have seen of him, I think he is overrated.  I've watched him being over aggressive and getting caught out of position for easy goals all season and his rebounds are atrocious (we already knew that from last year though). You were the one that said he was a better goaltender than Boucher.  Which is fine and your opinion; which you are absolutely entitled to.   All I did was ask how you came to that conclusion?  Was it your expertise as a former hockey fighter?  Are you a goalie expert?  Or was it Boucher's superlative career numbers overall, more championships/awards, that gave Charlie the edge over him in your mind?  Or were Charlie's limited games that he played against us previously and the sporadic starts he's had for us this season afforded you with a wealth of opportunities to see him play (sarcasm).  Nick was here for 5 seasons and played I believe over 200 games for us.  So, I was just asking how you came to your determination.  It was you that went on and on with false information that I felt compelled to refute, just as I have defended other players on this blog in the past.  I respect one thing above all else for our Komets.  That's doing the job they are paid to do-which is playing well and winning.  This season has been heavily lacking in that dept.  Nick has done that for us in the past and I respect what he and those teams have done, regardless of the league they were playing in.  I won't belittle, or diminish that fact as you have.  As a former player I would think you would have more respect for your fellow players knowing full well the battle of playoff hockey regardless of league, and your first hand knowledge of what it takes to be a pro, if even for only two years like you were.
