Tailing the Komets

Stompin Tom Connors has died

So what, you may be asking, but you've heard him at almost every Komets game and maybe didn't realize it. He sang ``The Hockey Song'' ``At the good old hockey game, it's thebest game you can play...''

Sorry to hear about Stompin Tom Connors death.  It is a clever song.

I loved the vidoe shown with the song.  Reminds me of hockey from a different day and era.

Stompin' Tom is much more than a singer of a clever song, he was a Canada-first patriot that one doesn't find too often. His songs are celebrations of the people and places of Canada, and hockey is just a part of that, though I'd be the first to admit the Hockey Song and the Hockey Mom Tribute are classic.

For quite a few years, and through a lot of winning seasons, Larry played the Hockey Song right at the end of the announcements, and it was something I counted on every game. We don't sing O Canada but at least we had Stompin' Tom. We aren't doing it this year, and we are losing.  Perhaps tonight we should bring back the tradition, and play Stompin' Tom every night it's Hockey Night in Fort Wayne.
