Giosa played very aggressively. It was good to see him getting a little chippy and going hard to the net. If he can keep this up on a nightly basis, I'd like to see him back next year.

It was good to see the Komets win, but the basic problems still remain.  It was simply one mediocre IHL2 grade team playing another one. Despite all of the shots, the game was uninspired and boring to watch.  The "Jungle" was so quiet for the first half of the game that, other than the announcer and loud the music played during the breaks, you'd think that you were in a big empty church.  The ECHL lists the attendance at 5,789, but it didn't look like half of that.  The few fans there were not into the "action" at all, and they didn't even begin to respond until late in the game.  The blown two goal lead didn't help, and it had everyone thinking "here we go again".  Fortunately the Komets recovered and pulled it out.  I believe though that everyone felt that had we been playing a decent, fast, hard-checking team, they would have wiped the ice with us.

Scarecrow, your take on the crowd was right on.  One thing though, the attendance is based on tickets sold.  I have four season tickets but only one was used.  The other three seats were counted in the attendance figure even though the seats were empty.  It made for comfortable viewing as you could stretch your legs without bothering anyone.

Let's look at a couple of positive things.  1), Kudos to Chaulk for coming up with the two man forecheck, and 2), kudos to Sims for listening and being willing to change his system. 3), congrats to the K's for not wilting, when after giving up a two goal lead, they came right back with two goals of their own. 4), scoring six goals (what a refreshing change).

One other thing.  The Komets were one of four expansion teams in the ECHL this year.  Has anyone examined how the other three are doing?

Fort Wayne :  30-30-1-2

Orlando:          26-30-3-3

San Fran:        22-34-1-6

Evansville:     22-36-2-3

Believe me, I'm not saying there aren't mountains to climb and lessons to be learned.  Just wanted to post something positive about the game and our expansion "cousins".

By the way, Blake.  I forgot to mention how much I enjoy the "In his words" articles.

Nice to finally see the Komets win again, and score 6 goals to boot. I liked that we scored first instead of playing catch up like usual. I also liked that we had 3-4 guys crashing the net instead of the usual one, maybe two. Although I think once or twice we actually blocked our own shot because so many guys were in there. lol Whatever it takes. Hope they keep this up.
