I can see giving Chalk a shot. He has the players respect, knowledge, passion, loyalty and has some experience dealing with the Frankes.

While no head coaching experience, he wouldn't be the first or the last in professional sports to be given a head coach job.

Blake,

Do you know why the Frankes are not interested in talking with Martinson?  I know that we didn't like him when he coached at Rockford because of his brash attitude but the guy wins and puts an exciting team on the ice.

I remember when we played his Rockford team in the playoffs, he came out in the paper before the series began and basically said that they were going to physically pound us out of the playoffs.  They did exactly that.  They hit our defensemen so much that by the 3rd game our d-men were always looking over their shoulders for a hit and then turning the puck over.

That memory always comes to mind when Martinson's name comes up.

I just hope that we get a coach that will have the respect of the players and demand a more physical and exciting brand of hockey.

Because Allen will be moving to the ECHL next season and he is already in place as coach of that team....

Allison is also under contract for next year, and Purinton is out of coaching.

JR1  regarding Allen joinging ECHL . Where are you getting your source or sources? We have all seen this "topic chum" on blogs but I have not seen anything factual, nor can I find anything factual.

Going back the past 2-3 years this whole CHL- ECHL merry-go -round comes up on blogs but never anything in factual print from respective news sources.

Please share site if you have one

It's been rumored for months. There is no official announcement anywhere under threat of fines from ECHL.My guess is the announcements will come after the ECHL finals.

Good luck to whoever the new coach is. With the time spent on this decision, where is the scouting for players that will make up the team next year?

Very difficult to recruit when you have no Coach and signing deadlines approaching.

Blake, Does Allison's contract move to Vancouver? Or does he take another position with the Blues organization? St. Louis is going to affiliate with the Wolves, who have a coach. I assumed his contract would be voided since St. Louis doesn't have a place for him to be a head coach.

RG2, I have gained several strong contacts over the years...  People love to talk, even when they are supposed not to, thats why you see so many statements made in the news from "those who were not authorized to comment on the situation" so they remain confidential.  Rapid City and Allen are both coming to the ECHL for next season.

Mike, this is what happens when you take so long to "force" the incumbent coach out...  They wanted a new direction while still appearing to be the "good guys"...  PR is everything to the Frankes and rightfully so.  I think they would be surprised to find that they would get further without the smoke and mirrors though....the Wizard was found to be very likeable once he came out from behind the curtain....

PAT BINGHAM! How did I forget Pat Bingham? Call him!

He's connected and matches the criteria.

Agreed JM, and Bingham's team was fun to watch....  win, win!

Hi, Mike in Toronto!  Good to hear from you.

As a person who is far from the "action",  I find myself wondering if anyone knows what is going on and what the plan of action is.  There must be a plan because it would be stupid not to have one.  In my opinion the Komets (Franke's) have already set their sights on the new head coach. While they say they are considering applicants, I think they probably have had serious talks with their choice and will announce the person at the end of the ECHL Playoffs.  The Komets have said that they would like to have the new coach in place by June 1st.  The longest the ECHL Playoffs could last is May 29th. The timing is right.

While there are many important aspects that the new coach needs to bring, I feel that recruiting is the most important and maybe, was the weakest part of the Al Sims-David Franke team.

I am hoping that Colin Chaulk is doing OK.  His health is more importamt than a head coach-asst coach potential squabble.  Let's get him right again.

Hope you will still chip in with comments, Mike.

P. S.  Regarding Pat Bingham.  Good recruiter, plenty pf head coaching experience, but resigned during the off season last year from Elmira.  Not sure why, and and my gut feeling is he's not one of the people who the Franke family would be interested in.

Elmira was in serious financial straits.. You can google the mess the Afr family created there. It was doubtful they'd even have a team at times, I don't blame Bingham for getting away from that. I think he's a very viable candidate, but I too doubt that David Franke will consider him. Indications of the first go around pointed at a power struggle with two "alpha" personailities.

LOL. Nothing like that happened, but Bingham won't be considered.

I can not confirm nor deny my involvement. I do hope to release a statement on behalf of the interested parties in the very near future. I can confirm I was at the Coliseum but in no way was I apart of any long term discussions.

As far as a timetable I would say something should be made public prior to the Blackhawks sweep of the Red Wings which as of now appears to be at the conclusion of game 4.

And for the record, for the near term, I am still a season ticket holder and Schebigs feet stink.

I am shocked that nobody has brought up the "Yes Man" angle yet. I don't see the Ks owners getting a coach that is not a yes man. How do you guys think it would work with a coach that did not kiss some rump??

I have a neighbor who's wife works for the Canlan group at Lutheran Health Sports Complex. And the rumor they have heard going around is Gary Grahm is slated to be the next Coach along with Tyler Butler as his Assistant. Again that is RUMOR....So don't shoot the messenger.

And BTW...... Was that a Sweep of the Red Wings somebody mentioned above?
