Komets acauire Bobby Hughes

From a Komets press release:

The Komets announced Monday that center Bobby Hughes has been acquired from the Alaska Aces in a trade for future considerations.

Hughes, 25, will be entering his seventh pro year after serving stints in the AHL, ECHL, CHL and Germany over his past six professional campaigns.

"Bobby Hughes will be one of our top six forwards this season," said Komet general manager David Franke.  "He will add greatly to our center ice position and he brings a lot of experience to the club at only 25 years old."

Prior to turning pro, Hughes served four seasons with the Kingston Frontenacs in the OHL from 2003-2007.  He was one of the premier players in the OHL and led Kingston in scoring with 40 goals, 56 assists and 96 points in 59 games during his final season of junior play in 2006-07.

The Richmond Hill, Ontario native was selected by Carolina in round 4 of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and made his pro debut appearing in on playoff game with the AHL's Albany River Rats in 2007.  From 2007-08 to 2010-11 the center skated in the AHL, ECHL and CHL.

Hughes played a shortened season of 10 games in Germany during 2011-12 making an impact with six goals and 15 points and adding five goals and four assists in six playoff tilts.

Last season Hughes skated his first complete ECHL season appearing in 59 games with Alaska posting 15 goals and 39 points en route to the Brabham Cup (Regular Season Championship) before leading the Aces to the ECHL Presidents' Cup Finals scoring team highs of nine goals, eight assists and 17 points in 11 playoff games.

From an Alaska Aces press release:

``We liked having Bobby here, and by all indication he loved it in Alaska,'' Aces coach and former Komet Rob Murray said. ``However, some things changed for him this summer, and he needed to be closer to his home in Toronto. So he asked if we could move him to a team out East, and we tried to respect his situation. We thank him for his efforts last year, and wish him the best of luck in his career.

``I am very confident that the futures we receive as part of this deal with go a long way in making us a better team next season.''

So what does everyone think?  Probably a vet, but I have no idea of his speed, skill, etc.  He's 5'11".  I don't remember him from the CHL.  Anything anybody can do to fill me in on would be appreciated.

I know the article said that he's expected to be a "top six" forward.

He is the second player acquired by "future considerations".  Sometimes those will be settled by money, but I hope we don't find the K's short when it comes time for payback.

Before I clicked on the link for this story, I thought for sure there was going to be a picture of the Coliseum...

He's not a vet so nothing to worry about there...If i counted correctly he's at 196 games played.
