Tailing the Komets

Duane Lewis steps down as CHL commissioner

You can read about it here.

Don't know the details, but I hope it works out for the best for Duane and he gets to do whatever he wants next. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Duane Lewis. He always acted in a first-class manner around me during the Komets' two-year affiliation with the CHL, and he had a top-notch staff. He's a good hockey man and a better man overall.

I'm with you.  From the very beginning when the Komets joined,  I liked the CHL.  It had a good number of teams,  it had a fair ( I thought) veteran rule, and played a very good quality of hockey.

The problem, to me, was and still is that it is just too spread out.  Losing most of the Texas teams hurt and now the travel is only going to be worse with Brampton not being close to anywhere.

Ownership of the league changing again, at least two teams looking to switch to the ECHL, and now with Duane Lewis leaving just adds to the instability to the league.

Going back to when Indianapolis and Oklahoma City were members must bring a lot of "what ifs" to the CHL.
