This year's Fort Wayne High School Hockey Association season begins Saturday, Sept. 28 with a power play of special events to welcome the sport back to the Summit City for another season. The opening-night matchups feature a rematch of last year's city championship game as Homestead takes on Leo at 4 p.m. followed by Carroll vs. Snider at 6 p.m. and Bishop Dwenger vs. Northrop at 8 p.m.
Special activities include a ceremonial puck drop for each game by Komets right wing and former Snider standout Kaleigh Schrock. New Komets head coach and former North Side and Snider coach Gary Graham will also be in attendance. Ice D. Eagle will also be performing, and Tom Didier will sing the National Anthem. At the microphone announcing the games will be Mr. ``Hockey Night in Fort Wayne'' Larry Schmidt.

Where is this taking place? At the coliseum or at Lutheran Health Sports?
Canlan. I don't think HS hockey has ever played at the coliseum, at least not for league games.
Back in the late 70's and early 80's all the HS games were played at the Coliseum. Teams were Snider, Northside, Northrop ( A and B teams ), Harding, Concordia and East Noble. Snider and Northrop were the top teams most years. Harding did win the championship in 1980 or 1981 I don't remember.
