Komets add defenseman to roster

The Komets announced Thursday that defenseman William Lacasse has signed a tryout agreement and has been added to the preseason roster.

Lacasse, 26, will be entering his second pro year after making his pro debut last season in ECHL stints with Greenville, Idaho and San Francisco posting totals of two goals, five points and 22 penalty minutes in 26 games.  Lacasse also skated 26 games with Augusta in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) during 2012-13 registering five goals, 14 points and 16 penalty minutes in 26 games.

“Will is an offensive minded defenseman that I had a chance to see play last season," said Komet head coach Gary Graham.  "Watching film on him when he played for Idaho last season, it’s evident that he can play at this level."

Lacasse skated his college career at Neumann College (ECAC), completing a three-year stint in 2011-12, and joins fellow Neumann College graduates Kaleigh Schrock and Jeremy Gates on the Komet roster.

The Komets' preseason roster grows to 27 players including 15 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders.
