Komets offer tryouts to three players

From a Komets' press release:

The Komets announced that forwards Darick Ste. Marie and Keegan Flaherty and goaltender Max Strang have signed tryout agreements and have been added to the preseason roster.

Ste. Marie, 23, helped the Akwesasne Warriors to the 2011 Federal Hockey League (FHL) Championship before making his ECHL debut in 2011-12 skating 10 games with Cincinnati.  The St. Bruno, Quebec native split last season appearing in stints with Orlando and Evansville in the ECHL and has accumulated totals of two goals and 10 points in 37 career ECHL games.

Flaherty, 23, completed four seasons of college play at the University of Minnesota-Duluth last year.  Flaherty helped Minnesota-Duluth to the 2011 NCAA Championship.  The forward was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team each of his last three seasons.  Flaherty finished his college career scoring 10 goals and 29 points in 148 games.

Strang, 23, is looking to begin his pro career with the Komets after completing five seasons of NCAA play with Mercyhurst College in the Atlantic Hockey Assocation (AHA).  Strang finished his college play last season with a career best 2.59 goals-against average in 27 appearances with the Lakers.  Prior to his college career, the Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania native backstopped Sioux Falls to the 2007 USHL Clark Cup Championship.
