Tailing the Komets

Roster moves

The Komets announced Wednesday that goaltender John Muse has been loaned to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL and right wing Shawn Szydlowski has been assigned to Fort Wayne by the AHL's Rochester Americans.

Muse, 25, made his Fort Wayne debut last Saturday night during the Komets' home opener stopping 18 of 21 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Toledo Walleye.  Muse, appearing in his third pro year, has backstopped Charlotte during stints with the Checkers the past two seasons.  Last year the East Falmouth, Massachusetts native posted an 18-10-3 record and 2.50 goals-against average in 32 AHL games with Charlotte while sharing the season with the ECHL's Florida Everblades appearing in 21 games.

Szydlowski, 23, may see his first action this season with the Komets.  The winger made his pro debut skating four games with Portland in the AHL during 2010-11 after completing four seasons of OHL play with Erie.  Szydlowski played the majority of his rookie season with Rochester (53gp, 8a, 21pim) in 2011-12 and appeared in a six-game stint with Gwinnett in his only ECHL action to date.  Last season the St. Clair Shores, Michigan native scored 10 goals and 26 points in 45 CHL games with Fort Worth.  Szydlowski also skated seven games with Rochester.  Szydlowski has accumulated totals of eight assists and 25 penalty minutes in 62 career AHL games.
