Tailing the Komets

Graham blows up at Komets after loss

Good for Gary...there are absolutely some players that are playing awful...if calling them out works than that's great...but when asked how much he shoulders the blame....he basically said he Carries no blame. Hmmm even on the slight chance that were true...as the head coach with a team that he says is very talented...if he is going to point fingers and name names...accepting and acknowledging his share of the blame would be a better choice. Otherwise he's going to alienate and create friction real quick. I understand his anger and frustration...but to go from Mr. passive to mr we are all terrible os not the most helpful choice.

You can make the argument, that the coaching strategies and systems are working...as we continually get those big leads...but don't have the heart or discipline to hold them.

At some point...it's on the players to play a full 60 (or 65) minutes.

Certainly understand the Vaskivuo and Tuzzolino comments based on watching them....have questioned Tussolino for many weeks now and pointed out Vaskivuo looks lost as well.

Coyle, playing with Mr. defensive ECHL leading plus minus leader #74, could be a reason he is also in the negative plus minus rating, but watching him play the last two games, he is impressive, hard hitting,  has crisp passes and defends his cohorts.

Lang, played what I thought was an agressive, hard hitting game, and has always been in most plays.....hmmm.

I have to question Coyle and Lang's chewing out unless they are not getting along with Gary  Certainly calling out players in the media is never received well.

Or Caprad, Gary is showing his video and preparation skill by having his team ready to start games; but is struggling to counter the other teams in game adjustments that are taking advantage of Komets weaknesses....

As a rookie ECHL coach I believe this is the main reason for Komets late game flops....

True they get the lead usually...but their lack of desire and motivation to keep the intensity up is a bad sign for both coach and players. Of course players have to do the actual work...but a big part of coaching is motivating...getting his players to buy into whatever he is selling. The early leads could just be the result of a team with talent..and the breakdown midway through is a result of a team with talent but no desire, discipline or fire to do the gritty, dirty tougher work required to keep a lead and shut teams down. I really don't know...never seen a team play this way continuously. Someone suggested hiring an asst coach...not a bad idea.

i stated at the beginning of the year that the loss of gagnon would really affect hte team and it would miss his toughness. blake you said we had enuff others to stepup, but with gates and pepin out the rest of the d men are playing like marshmellows. our 6'5 and 6'7 dmen are being pushed around by opposing forwards and its a shame that marino and auger are totaling up more hits than our big rugged dmen. in the blog world utah was glad to see the captain leave and i know its early but i can see why they were happy.  hes picked up the nicknames out there of  charmin lino and tuzzy bear. pretty sad.  i see he didnt make the trip to evansville. so has he quit the team or has he been traded??  they key to our lapse after getting leads is the d men have to get mean and nasty/ the have to hit and finish checks instead of letting guys shoot the biscuit they need to stand them up.  it was really telling last night when our goaler had to clean out his crease and push a player into the net and knock the net of f. then all of his teammates just stood there and looked stupid. someone needed to make a statement and at least get in the guys face but no one did.  mean and nasty. thats what gets it done in hockey. intimidation and hustle gets it done.  so far all we have is hustle.
