Once again that was a very flat period out of the K's and again they are down 2-0 . Bottom line you have to find ways to get yourself mentally ready to play no matter who you are playing against. Some point somebody has to wake this club up today. Right now they are just skating around with their heads cutoff. Just very sloppy hockey on the K's part.

What the heck is wrong with this team?!!!!

As a coach, sgriffith, how do you handle this type of thing?

Blake Sebring

Goaltending.

I agree Blake, but what can they do? they probably won't give strang a look.

Maybe Dr. Phil?

"Losing is a disease."

Seriously, still two periods to go.  They need the next goal, however.

Well you would assume after getting beat the other night 3-1 you wouldn't be talking about how poorly they played in the first period. Whoever the "energy" guys are they should have created a "statement" in the first couple of shifts of the game. Right now this club is so dependent on Auger, Marino, Lang to provide offense that is becoming a pretty heavy load for them to carry. While the goaltending has not been "consistent" at times, I think the two they got are pretty solid. I would have liked to have seen somebody try to create some momentum even if that was throwing a solid body check or even finding a dance partner. But in some ways I am a little old school in my thinking..lol

I'm sure they are looking at options. The Buffalo goalie coach/scout was in to practice last week.

I see a lot of guys staking straight up and lacking any intensity at all. Both sides.

One shot through 10 minutes of the second. I'm telling you, that 2-0 deficit with a soft goal just destroys this team.

I think it is really hard in this league to get that great goalie because the really good ones play up and the ones that have issues, that is why you see one night the goalie looks great and the next night he will let in soft goals. The days of stealing games on a regular basis is over I am afraid that guy hung them up and jersey is hanging up in the rafters

The 2 goal given up was poor coverage by the K's in the defensive end. Can't let a Dman back door

Where's our D? They played great last night. Sought ok s still pretty solid. We need more b ok does into the bodies into the boards. Elmira' s the only team checking.

Sorry for that post. I can't type and the K's can't play.

Elmira remimds me of Cleveland and Port Huron the way they suck you into playing their conservative game.

Debated that fact Blake before watching today. Plus I believe they are skating a man short due to injuries. There's your save Blake

Blake Sebring

Sometimes when they get in an offensive funk like this, I wonder if they wouldnt' be better off just coming into the zone and firing away instead of trying for the perfect set-up. Just to change momentum or whatever.

Their trip home should be an eventful one. There are times when watching this team it appears some of them could really care less about playing. The look like they are just going through the motions. I think I have seen some guys post before this club really is just a .500 hockey team, while their talent that is here in some spots looks better than average at the end of the day they are a .500 hockey team. At some point the 3rd line on this team has to start chipping in on the scoring department. This is a game the 3rd line has got to do something to spark this club right now.

Seems like you can find guys to play defense on the third line but no offense or you can find to play offense but absolutely no defense. Need both.

When someone asks what the heck is wrong with this team...I am shocked the blame is put on the goaltenders only. There are so many other things going on with this team...no way should the goaltenders get thrown under the bus. This team isn't playing to their level...why?

Blake Sebring

When your goalies give up the second-most goals per game in the league, they are going to get blamed for at least part of it. That's life. They need a top-line goaltender.

There are definitely other problems, a power forward, more third-line production, another d-man (Hurry back Gates!), but goaltending is the No. 1 area that needs addressed. 18 shots, 3 goals, you just have to do better than that at this level.

Team save pct is something like .895 at this point. It needs to be at least .910. Imagine this team with Kenny Reiter.

It's like an NFL team with a bad quarterback. You can see the difference right away. Look at the Packers. You just know they don't believe they can win right now.

Except they somehow won today. Oh, well. LOL.

How does anybody ever make any money betting on the NFL?

Looking at shots on goal, you migth think Komets dominated this one, but not true in any way.

At least Sought has been productive. Gonna be a long, long ride back to the Fort!!

It is easy to blame goaltending, it is difficult to blame poor management decisions (no affiliation, third line players being paid top line money, no stable ECHL goalie, ect.) to this date...

AC

Does anyone else think that they play hard against the tough teams and purposely play slow against bad teams to save energy and coast to get to the last two months of the year.

The problem with this team is coaching. The coach cant  manage his bench, he doesn't know how to make ajustments , the team doesn't beleave in him because of it.

Well, we played the last minute of the game. The other 59 minutes we looked like Holiday on Ice. Time for some changes. We cant reley on the same scorers every night. 3rd line doesnt even know what a goal looks like. Maybe we can call the league and request to only play the best teams in the echl. Dave Franke was on the trip, lets see if he will do anything this week, or maybe he enjoyed watching losing to a last place team.
