The K's need a captain.

Perhaps waiting for a Captain to emerge and seeing the other side of the coin will lead to some greater appreciation of Colin Chaulk's tenure in Fort Wayne.

I think the main ingredient is respect.  I think you gain respect from all the things you've listed.

After having a guy like Colin Chaulk, it is a pretty hard act to follow.  There isn't any way for me to know this for sure, but I've always believed Chaulk had the ability to criticize, teach, and explain without injuring anyone's feelings.  That is a "gift" and not everyone is blessed with it. ( Don't take that to assume that Chaulk couldn't fry you if needed, he just had the ability to know when and when not to do it).

I think Guy Dupuis had the same kind of gift, passion for the game, which was evident to his 'mates.  Remember how he would stay after practice to help Mironovic?  That kind of stuff speaks volumes and isn't lost on even the most dense teammates.

Do we have that today?  We might, but it has to be earned by the player and accepted by the team.

Just my thoughts.

I'm sure Schrock would be accepted and supported by the team. I'm not so sure about some of the fans, but does that really matter?

In some years it probably wouldn't and shouldn't.  I think it does this year, though.

The team seems to be in turmoil.  Right or wrong (not judging, mind you) the team has started out with a very young, inexperienced coach, morphed into a .500 club with better than .500 talent, traded its captain away, plays up with the good teams and down to the bad teams, can't seem to win on home ice, and has a terrible tendency to lose leads (and big leads, too).

I'm not sure that Schrock has the talent in all aspects of the game to be taken seriously by the other players.  Maybe a guy like Auger would be better.  Maybe Marino.  Maybe even Vaskivuo.

Whomever they choose, it had better be done correctly.  Again, just my thoughts and I respect any dissenting opinion  as I certainly don't have all the answers.

But that's the point, Alan. Fans won't and shouldn't have a say in this. It should be who the guys in the room will follow, period. Fans' wishes in this are completely irrelevant. In a way, this is bigger than what fans want.

I think that Schrock would make a good Captain despite what his critics have to say. It would be nice if his scoring would improve, but he still contributes! He is one of the most competative players on the ice. Another person that would make a good Captain is Marino. He puts everything he has and then some into all he does on the ice, he just doesn't give up!!

I agree with PhillyLinda, the team does need a Captain. Someone who can be the spokesperson and driving force for the Team. Remember, it's the Team first. Without the Team, there would be no fans!

There are players I like on this team and there are players I do not....

With that being said, I have yet to see one player thru play, demeanor, attitude, charisma, etc... step forward on this team and say "this is my team, follow me".....

Until that happens, go with 3 assistant captains...all season long, if need be...  There is no need to put a "C" on anyones jersey before it is truly earned....

To anonymous; what did Marino do that made the locker room fall apart? Elaborate your statement, it's got me curious?

The ego of some hockey fans never ceases to amaze me.  Why would any "customer" think they know better than management what is best for the team?  Do the Colts make team decisions based on their fans?  If you do not personally know a player, you cannot possibly know if they have the ability to speak to their teammates in the roll of leader.  The best player in the world may be very quiet and too introverted to take on the leadership position.  Unfortunately, our Komets are really struggling right now, and that always seems to bring out the ego's even more than usual.

I think at if you look at it Jordon Southorn could make a very good captian. He works very hard, scores, fights and step in for his team mates. Just my thoughts.
