Tailing the Komets

Rumor central

David Franke said theKomets have not talked to Justin Hodgman since last summer. He would be crazy to walk away from the money he is making in Russia to come here and play for $800 a week. He's not crazy.

They are also not talking to anyone in Europe at this time, and the deadline is Saturday, meaning they have to be here by Saturday.

Joe Caveney was released by Cincinnati. Had 1 goal and 1 assist in 3 games with the Cyclones. Played for Graham last year at Pensacola. Might be worth a look.

Most people have no idea what players get paid in the hockey world. I don't know Hodgman but I do have a friend in the KHL and he makes 4 times in a week what the Ks whole payroll for a month is.. Why would not want to make $700,000 a year base plus bonus???

Hodgman is on his 3rd KHL team of the season scoring only 4 goals in 32 games. Maybe its getting to a point where collecting that fat paycheck won't be an option. I don't fans are being unreasonable to assume that the Komets could be a fall back if things aren't working out in Russia.

I don't doubt that the Komets would be a consideration, but he's making amazing money over there and would do whatever he could to keep it, I'm sure. It would surprise me at all if he ended up playing for the Komets again sometime, but more than likely it would be at the start of a season.

I would have to agree with Blake. If the guy lives here with his wife and kids as you guys say he does. Maybe Hodgman just wants to make huge money a few years overseas. I think it is logical to assume he will come back and play for the Ks again. Blake and David make it sound like the guy does not need the money very much. I would make the big cash and them play for the Ks and chill with my wife and kids here for the fun of it. It looks to me if you add up his total points from this season he would be third on his team in points, with four less games than the two guys ahead of him. It also looks like he is more of a setup guy than a goal scorer most years. I am not one to judge why a guys goes to three teams in a season after all I have seen this season with Ks. Ks are looking good right now I think.

You know what guys?  It doesn't have to be Hodgman.

If I were to list the four players,  currently on the roster , that might want to be prepared for a move, they would  be Miller, Szydlowski, Nutkevitch, and definitely Gates.

A healthy roster with Fleming and Dale, I could see keeping one of the three forwards.  Gates would be gone and a stay at home defenseman (someone like Maggio, Gagnon, Cescon-a player of that nature would be obtained).

As far as Europe goes...I'm almost positive it was stated by one of the Frankes that a player from Europe was coming here.  Maybe that has changed with the S.F. Bulls folding and the acquisition of of Ouellet and Dale.
