Tailing the Komets

Komets can't clinch playoff spot tonight

Because they've all been talking about controlling their own destiny and they don't want any help, maybe it's appropriate the Fort Wayne Komets couldn't clinch a playoff spot tonight. The Florida Everblades rallied to score with 51 seconds remaining Wednesday night and force overtime against the Reading Royals. Then Florida won in the shootout which doesn't necessarily hurt the Komets because it assures Fort Wayne of holding the first tiebreaker which is non-shootout wins.

That means the Komets can't clinch until Friday at the earliest.

Should the Komets make the playoffs, it's also completely uncertain who they will play in the first round.  They could end up facing Reading, South Carolina, Kalamazoo, Orlando, Cincinnati or even Greenville, but a lot of weird stuff would need to happen for that. It's quite the mess, but we'll sort it all out in the story that will be posted at midnight.

I didn't realize Josh Brittain was playing with Reading. Got both of their goals last night.
