Blake, I have to disagree about the biggest upset in Komet history. I would say the sweep of San Diego in 1993 was much bigger. The Gulls were the greatest minor league team ever assembled.

Break out the butter because this team's gotten greasy around the net. Hockey is a great game when played right, and these have been great games.
For most of the season it seemed the boys took an extra split second to put the puck on the stick before shooting. That gave the goalie time to get in position, close holes and prevent rebounds. I think Gill is having rebound-control problems because the shots are coming faster before he gets set-up.
I wouldn't be a blogger if I didn't complain about something. During a 6 on 5, why do players clear the puck down the ice like a penalty kill? I know that empty net is tempting, but an icing call just brings the puck back where we don't want it. Skate it!
I wonder if Reading will need to take pressure off Marino to control the second and third lines. I'm looking for a big game from our Top Gun.
As for Meisner...wow. Comes up big, and D is there to help when needed.
Stick it to 'em boys.

Gotta agree with Stick...Sims 92~93 team that swept the Gulls was huge. The situation now is a big surprise and very satisfying considering our season, but not the biggest in the 62 yr history.

Blake, I like the post game discussions you and Kenny tape at the end of the game. You provide an unbiased assessment of pros and cons on both teams. Something a Reading fan would enjoy listening and pondering aswell.

Had to see if you were paying attention. :)
In terms of seedings, this could be the biggest upset by far. The 93 Komets were division winners and I think were a No. 4 or 5 seed. In terms of points differential, that was indeed the biggest margin, however.

Anne, I to was surprised about the icings late in the games but it makes sense. The Komets are winning the faceoffs so they control the puck. They ice the puck and start over. That means a twenty second rest for every ten seconds of work. Plus Reading obtains no momentum to build on. While boring to us fans, it works for the team.
Sunday will be the most difficult game for the Komets to win versus ant other game of the season as Reading has nothing to loose. I would not be surprised that Ben will get bumped and knocked around. This is in attempt to upset him and draw our players into taking penalties. Everyone on the the k's need to play smart and not get sucked into taking stupid penalties.
The players just need to play with the same effort every shift, as they have in the last two games. Just job give 100% effort, just do their job, and not to get sucked into anything. With that the goals and win will be theirs!
