Breaking down the minor leagues

And then building them back up.

Few things to remember: This makes logical, economical and geographical sense so it likely won't happen. It's been talked about for 25-plus years and it's never happened. Too many egos involved. Obviously, at least some of it needs to happen. It also may lead to more NHL teams buying minor league affiliates, which may not be a bad thing. It's getting harder to find people with the money but without the, shall we say, naivete to keep throwing good money after bad and buy minor league franchises. Notice how minor league expansion has stopped the last few years and basically all we have is restructuring of existing franchises? That's why. It's a very difficult business to actually make back your investment.

Michael Franke has been talking about this for decades and it hasn't gotten much traction.

Interesting read...I would think this makes too much sense and so it will not work.
