Tailing the Komets

So what do you think?

What do you think of the roster so far? Keep in mind they are going to get a minimum of four players from Lake Erie. That will be a goaltender and at least two forwards, possibly three. Could be a defenseman and two forwards, too. And the Komets have said at least two of those will be on two-way contracts, meaning they are under AHL and ECHL contracts and they are going to be very good players.

Training camp is going to be a bear to figure out which 11-12 forwards and 7-8 defensemen start the season. I'm hearing the Lake Erie guys could arrive as early as the Oct. 7 after camp opens on Oct. 5. That exchibition game on Oct. 4 will likely decide things for some of those Lake Erie players.

I think it will be very tuff to decide which players to keep. Looks as if we are packed full of talent. Let's just hope those players we cut don't come back to bite us in the butt!

Looks like we have some very good talent coming our way. I just hope we keep the best D men for the job, the bigger the better. Offense is looking good, great scoring potential in the mix. I wish there was more info on the Goalies though, that's the heart of your team. Hopefully we get talent with the same caliber and drive as we had with Bouch, Effinger and Meisner. Would be nice to add a Goalie coach to help keep practice even for all players. I'm really stoked and ready for the season to begin - Go KOMETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Were just fine. We've got the corner and middle piece of this puzzle. Question is if the pieces are put together in the correct way.

The roster looks good on paper.  The big question for many (and a lot more than the eye rollers want to believe) is can Graham bring them all together and coach legitimate ECHL talent?

I want to see the best team kept going into the regular season and what players Graham takes into the regular season will tell us a lot.  Has he progressed as a coach to not let allegiances and friendships cloud his judgement when it comes time for cuts or will he bow to fan favorite pressure and jersey sales when deciding his roster?  To be fair, have the Komets given him a free reign to do so???

The size and toughness seems to be there...  The ECHL talent is there....  The affiliation is there...  Will all the stars align for the Komets for a good FULL season?  We shall see.

Considering the Lake Erie players won't be cut, there are going to be some VERY good players cut, especially forwards

Looks more like an AHL team than ECHL.  A step up or two from last season.

At this point if we had to cut three forwards I would say Beebe, Ouellete, and either Esposito, or Hudson. If i had to get rid of a defensman I would eliminate Daniels, or Lacasse. I really do not know how Graham is going to cut some of these guys this is going to be a tough training camp.

JR1 just say it... No way is #79 ever going to get cut. Right or wronge that is the way it is lets just move on. I get so tired of all the same stuff being said. No he in not a top ECHL guy and I am sure we could get a better player but that is not going to happen we all know that. Used in a limited energy roll #79 showed in the playoffs he has a place on the team. Looing at the rest of what we have I am happy.

OK, I will say it...  Looking at the roster and knowing that 4-5 NHL contracted players will be getting sent down, Schrock does not belong.....  His numbers have been declining for the last few years and his minutes reflect that.  No way any teams captain should ever be a 4-5 shift a game guy.  The only thing keeping him on the roster is his birth certificate....  If Graham wants to be a successful coach, then he is going to have to make tough decisions like this...release Schrock.

The reason he's on the team is his leadership, which no one on the roster does better. He was a main reason why last year's second half was better. When he got named captain is when things started to turn around. That's the only stat he needs to make the team.

Employ him as an assistant coach then... Not a center bench warmer... The word from former players is much different than the line the media is fed....

I think David Franke & Gary Graham are doing great. Consider that they have completely changed the recruitment plan from last year. They are doing exactly what they said they were going to do.

The fact that the Komets have survived the continuous evolution of minor league hockey is no accident. It's the hard work and nimbleness of great hockey people.

Great amount of talent in camp.  The salary cap is going to play a role in who stays though.  No way all these talented players stay with LE sending down a few players also.

Very impressed by what I have seen and read about so far.  As usual we have the negative nellies spouting off even before an exhibition game is played...and that I guess is to be expected.

Hope it plays out well for them....last couple of years have been tough and I wish the team and management well in their endeavors....we will be there for support.

I believe the point needs to be made that people with this talent were around last year, and they bought off on going to the club they thought would help them best get to the AHL most quickly. Based on player signings and their own words, the Komets might be a great place to play but being affiliated will get them a better shot to get noticed and get called up, especially to an AHL club that is so close. There are at least 5-6 signings that are directly linked to Lake Erie or the Avs, in one form or another. To say the K's wouldn't have gotten them if not for the affiliation is pretty bold, but a good case could be made that it gave them the decided edge over other clubs that might have been pursuing them. I think this club will be as strong as the affiliation itself with more call ups then we have seen in a long, long time, and as long as the K's plan for that accordingly this should be a fun season to watch!

Does anyone know how the Ks got the Avs affiliations? Did the Avs find the Ks of did the Ks go after them? I guess how did it come about is what I am asking? Why the Ks and not another team?

I agree this team looks great...i also agree with JR and Viva....that doesn't make me a negative nellie. It is just my way of seeing things. We still have a long way to go...even with a talented roster. I think we will have a great season but it won't come easy...
