Tailing the Komets

Hello from Kalamazoo

4,300 school kids here today, and it's a sellout. It's also already very loud.

I'll do my best to keep you updated. If you haven't had a chance, please check out the Will Lacasse story today.   You can read it here.

Pat Nagle and Joel Martin are the starting goaltenders. Frederic Leblanc is the referee. Joe Ernst from the ECHL office is also in attendance. DID I SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT ALREADY BEING VERY LOUD HERE?

If the Wings score a power-play goal, everyone with a ticket gets a free Concrete Mixer from Culvers. They'll lose their minds over that one.

I'm hearing music that I don't recognize all the time, but that's nothing new. #oldfart.

Wow, do they love minions! And someone is selling airhorns. It sounds like fog shrouding Lake Michigan.

Here's a question, if you were an adult, why would you volunteer to come to this game? LOL Even more respect for teachers.

You haven't lived until you've seen Tommy Schoeger put on his makeup and fix his hair before a broadcast. No wonder he gets here three hours early. Looks like Sen. Bernie Sanders in real life. It's almost as bad as Shane Albahrani. Luckily, I don't have either of those problems. Face made for radio and a voice for newspapers.

Scratches for the Ks: Schrock, Condon and Severyn, as expected.

Curtis Valk has been called up to Utica for Kzoo.

BTW, we'll do an open blog during Saturday night's game in Cincinnati if anyone is interested.

These kids are actually very well behaved so far. Of course, the videos are keeping them and me entertained. You can tell the Wings staff puts a lot of thought into this. Nice job.

I think we're going to find out a little more about the Komets today.  Many people don't believe in "extra" motivation affecting players during games, but I do.

Consider that Joel Martin is the reigning goaltender of the week, and add to it the fact that he got pulled after allowing four early goals against the Komets in Fort Wayne in their last meeting.

I think he'll want to prove something.

This current Komets team can take a gigantic step forward with a win this a.m.

Komets up 2-0 early on goals by Pistilli from an Ouellet pass and Szydlowski off a Joey Leach rebound. Three minutes in.
