They need to face it...the ever increasing ticket prices, increased concessions prices, parking (small; but when lumped in adds up), expensive bar, restrictions on noise/visiting/cussing/fun adding to a pretty dull atmosphere is taking its toll on attendance... They've done it to themselves...

JR1 you are spot on. Yes a few extra shoppers were out this year but the weather has been much worse in years past, the Komets are winning and the attendance was still down? Fans want to have fun and what has been taken away is causing them to look elsewhere. Who can blame them? Don't forget the ticket Naxis! Iknow a lot of people will disagree with me over this, but, the fans buying $8 tickets and moving down stairs after a period or two to empty seats are not there spending their money on concessions and other items becausec they are GONE. Let's face it, The Komets are not going to sell those seats in the 2nd period of any game so whats the big deal?? STH buy tickets to make sure they get the seats they want for every game. I've done that in the past as well. Kudos to you! I have not gone to a single game this year for the first time in 50 years because of all the things JR1 mentioned previously. I have watched all of the MY TV games and listen on the radio but I am sick of paying good money to come away disappointed with the product I was seeing. The Game has certainly changed at least in this league and our ownership has changed their MO as well. Good luck to them.

To bad your not going. This is by far the most talented team since the old IHL( 1990's). Some of the comebacks this year are the best I have seen in 25 years. The Indy game( in Indy) opening night was a classic. Based upon the cost of living/inflation, the Komet tickets are a better deal then 1991. do the math. They are also one of the least expensive in all of minor league hockey.  So, for all of you stating your reasons not to come. Dont. They wont miss you. There is obviously nothing that could change that would make you want to come to games anyway. I will enjoy it immensly as will the other 7432.

So what has this got to do with Komet Kare? I know times are rough(trust me I know better than I want to), but you don't have spend a lot of money to have fun watching the K's. Komet Kare gives us the opportunity to at least be able to give something(small or large) back to those who are serving in harm's way. A small way to say thank you.  I've been in their shoes, and just a small token from the folks back home makes it just a "little" bit more tolerable! Give if you can!!

Klaus, you are 100% right. I am remiss.  Appreciate the observation.

Komets Kare is only one of the things Blake discussed in this Komets Notes post... Nobody is saying anything bad about that program, just discussing another topic that was touched on...

Curious, did you only see the Komets Kare patch, then read the comments before posting your comment, or did you actually read the story and then somehow misinterpret the comments?

Btw, RG2.... Have you actually looked at prices around minor league hockey or was that "one of the least expensive" comment just a shot in the dark? I have and they most definitely are not, in fact their pricing falls into the middle of the pack, if not in the upper half of AHL teams pricing...

JR1   can this get moved to a different header topic? The Komet Kare program is great and please all participate

In answer to your question I did and have over the years. As a matter of fact, in Indy the seats for about the exact same location were $12 more per seat then Fort Wayne.  There seems to be a fluctuation depending on age of arena also.  Seems a newer venue will charge more initially then an older venue. Your exact seat and sight line can vary with price. There can be additional fees added depending on state then what on line ticket price shows.

With the comeback win, did not mind the price in Indy. Im sure I would have grumbled with a loss.  I usually agree with alot of what you say over the years. I did not on this one.  I do feel the Komet ticket prices are very fair compared to all other locations/venues.  I dont think the prices have as much influence in attendence as other competing events going on do. To say people stay away because they cannot move down to better seats is somewhat silly. If there are, im sure those few look at it as a sport. Who can buy the least expensive ticket and end up at the end of the game in the most expensive seat! Winner!     Most of us are just there to watch a game.

Based upon the ease of parking, getting to your seat and cost, I think there is value. I rarely buy any concessions so that part of the equation I have no input.

Blake,  can you provide a list of suggested items to get for the troops for Komets Kare?  Thank you.

Be happy to in a couple of weeks as we get closer. There is a campaign of stories coming up. I mainly included the item yesterday to encourage teachers to start getting some letters in.

I'm sure the Frankes love seeing fans with elitist mentalities telling other fans to stay home...

Personally, at this time, the pricing does not affect me; but I know many people who cannot afford to bring their families to games any longer because of the increased prices of just about everything across the board... They don't matter though, right?

Ah, there you go jr1, calling someone names...its ok have at it..but you need to check your definitions first and no one said to stay home

People should feel free to do what they wish with their dollars...

Increases across the board...again, choose what you want to do with your dollars...no one is mandating they spend their dollars on anything that would be frivolous..just enough to lets say get into the game and enjoy it

Wow, great to c this guy back.

It's ok for many of you to call others names when they don't agree with your opinion; but when I make an observation based on 2 different individuals telling people not to go to the games in this thread alone, it's bad? That's hypocritical...

Not sure why some cannot handle discussions here? You guys pretty much have run off everyone with a differing opinion to that of the company line. Why are some so afraid to actually discuss differing opinions?

This all started with "they need to face it"..not sure who they are so lets set the price playing field players-the Frankes control the ticket prices only and the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum controls ALL the rest mentioned in the first and subsequent discussions.

Maybe the place this discussion should be headed  is addressing the ridiculously high salaries of lets say the first 5 employees on the Coliseum salary list...they make some $480,000 dollars a year.  Reducing some of those dollars might lead us to a way to have all who might like to attend a game be able to.

Nuff said

Good points...I don't disagree with your Coliseum angle.

Like any sporting event, it always seems to me that its the concessions that kill you. With coupons you can go to a Komet game for $6 . It may be called nose bleed in Fort wayne but sit up at the top in the Horizon in Chicago and its like watching ants.... for $40    The upper deck watching a komet game is a great $6 seat value( with coupon(s)). Upper arena when I was a teenager in the 70's was $4 and minimum wage was $2.  You can get a seat for LESS then minimum wage now!...and creep down to lower arena....if your good at it
