Its surprising and its not. Jimmy Howard is out for awhile. McCollom brought up from GR to Detroit. Im surprised Lerg or Conway did not get the call.  Im sure their nose is out of joint....

Grand Rapids plays Wed, Fri and Sat night.  Probably wont see him till next week.   What is surprising is the plethora of forwards Binghampton has right now. Not to mention signing Todd Bertuzzi but not sure what shape he is in. They also brought up David Marshall. Hope Syd gets another game or two.

Is this a good time to have Lake Erie send a forward, who might be sitting, to us in the interim? Scratch a brothers back?

Grand Rapids does not want to stir up Toledo's roster while they are chasing the Komets. So they go after Nagle. All these AHL teams are looking at our players due too being in first place. Hope we get some help by the weekend. Lake Erie better not need Will for awhile.

Lerg has already had two PTO call ups with Grand Rapids.  That is all that is allowed.  Grand Rapids cannot call up Lerg again.

Old Guy...I could not agree with you more. I too have followed them since 1960. I had it with them the last two years and have not gone to one game this year because of it. I am going this Friday night (free tickets from a good friend) but I cannnot stand the revolving door of players and the crap pulled by certain teams like Grand Rapids is pulling right now and Norfolk did earlier with Pistilli. They know that other goalies are out there...they are trying to help Toledo and dont tell me differently. The call up earlier of Pistilli was also extended needlessly. Norfolk had plenty of other forwards to dress. My dislike hightended after hearing the comments from the SPHL about not wanting their players moved up and down...like ours. Why can they get away with it? Dont they think their players want ot move up and make more money?

Give me the NHL and the Blackhawks anyday!

You are correct, OldGuy45, there is a lot of player movement in this league.  Sometimes it's hard to keep up with the changes, isn't it?

But this is the league the Komets are in.  Sometimes you take the bad along with the good.  As many frustrating things that go with this league, I'm glad to be able to watch Komet hockey.

Someone mentioned that Lerg isn't eligible to be called up to Grand Rapids again.  I'm not sure about that rule,  but I wouldn't be at all surprised.  Toledo just signed an "emergency goaltender".  So I would assume either Lerg or Conway has been called up or injured.  For whatever the reason, Grand Rapids wouldn't take Toledo's last goaltender without things being in desperate shape...and it doesn't hurt to deny Toledo's rival the use of one of their goaltenders, all at the same time.

The other blog mentions that the Komets may be signing another forward.  Just a rumor for now.

Alan,  why is it that bloggers who complain and espouse their "bitterness " about the player changes and everything else, always seem to be bloggers that never go to games and  want to let everyone know they dont go to the games. I dont understand.  Their discontent is their loss.

I then read your comments and smiled. I appreciate and agree 100% with your statement and positive side.  We root for the TEAM. At least I do. Nothing has changed for 60 years. All the players that play here want to move up. Im sure even Eddie and Lional would have given anything to move up.  Nobody comes here to play then retire. It just happens. You make the best of it. We are a better community because of it.

Nagle EARNED his opportunity by having a great season so far. There is no conspiracy. Lets look at this from another point of view, Lake Erie probably wont make their playoffs nor does it look good for Texas or Binghamton. So its jackpot time when playoffs come.

RG2, there are more than one way to look at things. In the case of the Komets, your way and mine happen to differ. I was only responding to another bloggers comment. Just because I am not attending the current seasons games, does not mean that I am not following them closely. I have watched all of the MyTV broadcasts and follow each game on my smart phone. I want the Komet to succeed trust me on that. I went to too many games the last two seasons spending WAY too much time and money watching the garbage on the ice. I decided that no matter what they did this year, I was going to do that this season. You are correct that it is my loss...I agree but am not missing it since I still follow from afar. I still (like OldGuy 45) do not like the constant turnover of players but I am thrilled for players to get opportunities to make more money and play at a higher level. You have fun at the games, I'll have fun watching from afar and watching Blackhawk hockey any time that I can! GO HAWKS!!

The level of frustration is different for each individual.  I won't begrudge someone of being tired of the losing, the feeling of helplessness, or the constant change brought on because of the newness of a different league.  (I was in the same boat last year).

But this year has been different. The success the komets have enjoyed this season can only be tempered by the reality that no roster has a "permanance" that can be counted on.  The komets are in the midst of that situation right now.

As I said before, this is the league they have chosen.  If they would move to the AHL the problem may be less, but not entirely solved.

I took some hard remarks about the situation of the Komet forwards last week.  Sometimes that goes with the territory when you make remarks.  I accept that fact.  But I am interested in the fact that the K's are reaching down to the SPHL for a forward.  I've got no problem with that.

I hope that this guy brings a scoring touch, a scoring threat, that opponents need to game plan for.

We'll see who it is, and it should give us some insight on what the front office sees as a current weakness. (After the first Greenville game, only one goal, Embach with 0:19 left to go in the game, was scored by a forward).  The four goals against Gwinnett were scored by defensemen.

By the way, I see where Indy has traded Robert Czarnik.  His +/- may not be great, but he has been a Komet killer and I, personally, would've liked to see what he would do in a Komet uniform.

Alan, im pretty sure there is nobody in the SPHL that would cause another team ( in a higher league)to "game plan" for. Were you serious about that?  Kyle Thomas is the player per SPHL transaction sheet yesterday.

Czarnik was not touchable without a significant trade going the other way. Remember you have a salary cap.!!!! You also have pressure from Europe wanting players( See article on Jack Combs leaving Allen)

The Komets have what they have, they have what has gone up to the AHL( and can come back), they have the rights to a few players in Europe( in case they want to come back -dissenchanted( sp?)) and CHL players( as in Canadian hockey League comprising the WHL, OHL QMJHL) whose season ends early( remember Justin Hodgeman  came from the Erie Otters in the OHL)   There are no other pipelines that I am aware of.

RG2...that is mighty nice of you but not necessary at all....I'll make you a deal. If you do that, then I will let you know what game I am attending and would like to arrange to meet you and buy you one of your favorite beverages whatever that may be :) Maybe we can share a story or two...How does that sound? By the way, fans like you and Alan are the reason that the Komets are still here after 63 years. As someone once said, this is not a hockey town, it is a KOMET hockey town!
