Can anyone tell me what happened tonite??? It's bad enough to get a ref who can't tell his brass from his elbow, but for the K's to just "give" up in the 3rd. Mm at a loss!!

Blake, question for you. Do you think Muers took a bad penalty towards the end of the game when he got the double minor for roughing? I thought it was unnecessary and he should have not retaliated. The penalty to the jackles tendy was coming, he was then shoved in the face and that penalty was coming. Muers got up and "fought" a guy who never touched him. No komets on the ice stood up for him or tried to cause any more penalty issues. I just thought it was unnecessary again to take away a komet Powerplay. Just wanted to know your thoughts. Thanks!

Yes. It was mentioned in the story.

Ok.  So between the first and second periods a fella sits down behind me who shouldn't have been there (great job redcoats).  But that happens many times and it really doesn't bother me, and besides, he was there because of two girls a couple of seats away.  He wanted to impress them with his knowledge.  "See number 79"?  "He's the best player they got.  He's been out because of a bad back."  I thought to myself, "He's right about one thing, he is number 79."  And it was downhill from there.

I can't help but think that this game goes squarely on the shoulders of the GM and coach.  To play with only five defensemen is absurd.  To play this game with Schrock participating and Higgs sitting is ridiculous.  Somewhere I read that Higgs told Graham that all he wanted was a fair chance, a real chance.  Graham responded that he would get it here in Fort Wayne.  So what happens?  A guy who has been hurt (and clearly was not in game shape), takes the spot.  (Now I'm certainly aware that most time the way to get in game shape is to play).  But this team is sputtering.  Already at a disadvantage on defense, they put themselves behind the 8-ball on offense, too.

Apparently his "leadership" is pretty important.  So I'm assuming without him being out there they would've lost 5-1, instead of 2-1.

Lowry was reportedly traded for because he is a "natural" center.  I think he only won one faceoff all night.  I felt a little sorry for him.

...and the officiating!  At 11:14 of the third, Meurs and Marotta (the goaltender) get in a tangle, Shamanski intervenes and he gets called also.  But how come nobody on the ice saw MacKenzie land a punch to the chin of Meurs?  So Meurs gets a double rough, Marotta and Shamanski get minors, and MacKenzie gets nothing but congratulations from his bench.  At worst the Komets should've had a two man advantage.

I'm not going to crap on Schrock. He loves Fort Wayne.  He wants to play.  He wants to help...and I've posted before that on the "right" roster he can contribute.  But not on "this" roster as it stands now.  They need scoring, they need players who can go the whole game without frequent shift changes. Depending on how the wind is blowing, he is either a "leadership" guru, an agitator, or a fighter.  Well the fighting is over, and because of that, probably the agitating is too.

This game tonight is real important.  Put your best players on the ice, regardless of personalities.

Schrock does not belong in this league. I agree with Alan. Why sign new players and then play Schroch. Just like Alan said Schrock is an instigater and fighter nothing more and those days are over even then I wouldn,t have him on the team.

The ref last nite was about as bad as it can get.

I would agree that Schrock is way out of his league in the ECHL. I also think that being a 10th forward captain who barely gets 5 shifts a period isnt the kind of captain that the Komets should have.m Now, I dont count last night because it was his first game back and after an injury. You never should expect a player to be 100% back into game shape and be out there alot. But Alan, to blame the loss on Schrock? He contributed what he could being back on the ice for the first time in almost 2 months.

I thought the Komets simply just had an off night. Numerous times the Komets had chances to capitalize and didnt. We just werent getting any bounces our way. I do think that we were gliding around alot in the second and part of the third. The Komets have a huge game tonight and need to play a solid 3 periods of hockey. The call ups/ injuries are to be expected as well. That just goes to show how valuable Martin, Leach, Fallie, Crowder and Nagel are to this team. Once they all come back I believe we will be right back on the winning track. And who knows, Heard could be sent back to us. We just have to grind through this slump every night and get two points no matter how they come until we get out of it. My opinion, Pistilli, Oulette,  Szydlowski and Embach need to "take over" in tonights game!

I'm not blaming Schrock, Anonymous.  Not at all.  I blame the GM for not having a defenseman in town, and the coach for making the decision that Schrock should play and Higgs should sit.

Since Ouellet and Thomas have been deleted, and Higgs added, it must be safe to assume that Schrock is out there again tonight.

I want the best lineup possible.  Sitting Ouellet and playing Schrock tonight doesn't add up to being the best possible.

Like I said before, a healthy, agitating, in shape Schrock has his place on the right roster.  To me, this roster isn't it.

Especially against a Toledo team that is on fire.

If you can't keep possession of the puck as a forward in this league, you don't belong.  Apply this philosophy to everybody on this team.  That is all I have to say about the matter that is being commented on.

I have no idea how 3 Jackyls get involved against Meurs, only 2 of them get penalties and none of them are 5 for fighting.     Awful awful officiating that may have cost us the game, but at the same time you have to put the puck on net to score.  We looked really good passing the puck on the PP at the beginning of the game, but if teams are going to pinch the high slot on 1-3-1, you have to start sending the backside forward to the net and throw it on the goalie trying to get a rebound goal.  Take what they give you and don't force the pass.

One last thing.  With 5 d-men against the Walleye tonight, our d has to stay out of the penalty box or this one is going to be ugly.

Two things are holding Meurs back.  #1 is his temper.  #2 is his inability to control his temper.

Not sure where you guys think these defensemen are amazingly appearing from all of a sudden. The SPHL has been picked clean. And don't forget the VISA rules. So essentially, they have to either have a green card or be an American citizen to be able to make an immediate transfer.

Every team in the league is looking for defensemen, especially capable defensemen, and they aren't finding anybody either.
