ESPN Fort Wayne is bleeding money, simply a cost cutting measure as they already pay for the satallite programming.  Sucks for Elvis.

Could it be that ratings were low in comparison with WOWO and other talk radio programing?

Sports is a ridiculously hard sell in Fort Wayne, and always has been. People just don't like to spend money on anything other than Komets, IU basketball or Notre Dame football. Even when Purdue had great teams with Fort Wayne kids it was almost impossible to sell, and I'm not sure why. That's why HS sports switches stations every five years, because there isnt enough overall interest. It's a very specific audience.

I think part of the problem is anyone who tries to sell WKJG really wants to be on the air instead of selling. They've never had a sales exec who that's all they wanted to do, so the loyalties are always split.

Now that said, maybe there's just no way to sell sports at the level you need.

The audience for sports radio is also very, very specific and advertisers want diversity.

Although I like Mr. Elvis, the BS sports show didn't appeal to me.  If all your going to do is talk Michigan sports (Detroit Pistons, Redwings, and Lions along with the Michigan Wolverines), I don't think your going to keep to many listeners here in Indiana.  I generally turned him off and listened to 670 The Score out of Chicago.  Stiller talked all Ohio sports which didn't help.  Saturday morning there is "Talking Sports" which is pretty good.
