Tailing the Komets

J.M. Rizk comes back to the Komets

From a Komets press release:

The Komets announced Tuesday that a trade, in exchange for cash, with the Rapid City Rush will return right wing J.M. Rizk to the Komet lineup.

Rizk, 28, was a member of the Komets 2011-12 CHL Presidents' Cup Championship team appearing in 55 regular season games (20 goals, 31 points) and all 18 playoff games (7 goals, 14 points).  Rizk also skated 66 games (19 goals, 34 points) with the Komets during 2012-13.  The Dunham, Ontario native appeared in 28 games (3g, 11 points) since starting this season with the Rush.

Rizk may be in the lineup as early as Wednesday night when North Division rival Toledo visits for a 7:30 faceoff.  The Gwinnett Gladiators make their only visit of the season to Fort Wayne for games Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 7:30pm.

If he can get back to the same performance as 2012 then its great pick up. Good 3rd line player. Very curious as to how this came about and who reached out to who.

Same here RG2...I also wondered how much cash is in these "cash" deals. Is there a set amount per a player or does it mater on what the team needs or is giving up? I am sure there are those out there that know, but can they share the details?

99 percent of the time they won't share. It all depends on each individual deal. There's no set amount.

Usually the way these things work, one team has an excess of players or one it wants to move for whatever reason so it sends out a memo to the other teams in the league, maybe skipping the teams in its division. Or it places the player on waivers to see what kind of nibbles it can get.

There are proposed trades practically every week. Most teams are always trying to move someone, though maybe not as much in an affiliated league.A great deal depends if players can fit under other teams' salary caps.

Komets likely will not officially add him to the roster until Friday.

I asked Gary if this was because of a change in status for Faille, like maybe they weren't expecting him to return for some reason, and he said that had nothing to do with it.

Risk was available for obvious reasons....look at his numbers. I'm not very optimistic that he will help much.

Based on Faille's numbers and Martins numbers, it would not surprise me to see both of them soon. I think you have to take a chance on Rizk regardless of circumstances. If he can fit in the cap, and he is enthusiastic, his play may be at a higher level then at Rapid City. Look at Perlini playing with Crowder and Pistilli. You can tell his whole game and mindset have changed. He looks like he is having a blast out there with those two, who wouldn't.  Coming to a first place team and with a great group of guys , im sure he is stoked. His play will be apparent.  Cant wait.

Starting to like Lowerys play also.
