Blake, you may want to pass along this for everyone that may be traveling to Kzoo on Friday.  I bought tickets online this morning and noticed the press release.  Sounds like the main road (Sprinkle) off I-94 is closed for construction.

The end of the article states that the Komet record (for the last month) is pretty remarkable considering they had only one NHL or AHL contracted player on the roster.  ( I thought Leach should be included, but I'm probably wrong).

But the fact remains that it illustrates what a nice job the GM and Coach have done assembling this team.  So much so, that I would want only Heard and Beaupre to be assigned here for the playoffs.

There are going to be some very tough decisions to be made.  Without an injury to eliminate a player, some pretty good team members (and I mean some guys who have really contributed) will be let loose.

Too bad for Thomas.  He really hustled and I believe with the right linemates and regular shift, he could be a real "sleeper".  I'm pretty sure someone will pick him up.

Well the week is beginning tonight.  Hope the roster is stable.

Every game is so important.  Toledo has gone around the K's and after tonight they will, again, have a game 'in hand".

I wish Crowder was OK.  But saying that I must realize that this is the best roster Fort Wayne has enjoyed for a long, long time.

Shoot the puck, get the rebounds, and attack the "greasy" area!

Do hyphenated last names count? Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn from the 08-09 season. His name plate too went shoulder to shoulder. I recall fans calling him "Alphabet".

Alan, I have to agree on your comment on just Heard and Baupre. Meurs could be a liability. Not worth the two minute penalty waiting to happen. If he has become a disiplined player then I would want him on the playoff roster.   I would like Petryk back if he gained some confidence. His history tells he has a nose for the net. We just never saw it.  There are only a small number of players in this league that can create their own play and we have a couple of them.

Again Alan, I concur- even without those four, I also feel this is the most potent/skilled lineup we have had since the last year in the old IHL. We will be just fine even without the above mentioned players .

I guess some people would be happy with no broadcast on tv or radio. Be thankful for what you have.

For all of the complainers please do  not ever again watch a broadcast on TV or listen to Chase on the radio.  It is quite obvious that we have people in this world that can never be happy.  Do you pay to watch or listen to it???   I don't care what they say on the broadcasts.  I am happy to be able to see the game on TV.......

Oh, a couple of other contributions "to this blog"...who are you people and did you just come out of the woodwork to critique?...think about your statement!

Noting the "complainers" comment...professional broadcasters should have an expectation from their audience to perform at a near peak level....neither TV nor radio does that today and I would hope both will get better in the coming years....certainly they cannot get much worse.  To "not care what they say on the broadcasts" speaks to a whole different story line.

Again, you all have a nice day and lets go K's!

Before I type anything further, I need to make sure I acknowledge MyTV and WOWO.  The radio station has brought Komet hockey to me from the time I was just a little kid (way back then they only broadcasted the second and third period of the home games) to the present time.

Television for Komet games was introduced years ago (when the cameras were already set up at the Coliseum for the basketball tournament).  They would be Sunday pm games with Hilliard Gates (channel 33).  Strange that I had forgotten that until this "discussion" started.

...and I want to thank those responsible for all the fun (sometimes disappointment) that went along...and I want Tommy Schoegler to have a quick recovery.

I don't think "WHO" is alone in his thoughts.  I, too, noticed that Kent Hormann mentioned (at least three times) that Faille played 41 games in the "A".  It was 21.  And I've always wondered why Schoegler always pronounced Szydlowski "Zid"lowski instead of "Sid"lowski.  (That got corrected when he was a guest on "Sound off with the Komets").

Are these things life-changing events?  No, of course not.  But I don't think it's wrong to expect the announcers to be prepared.  Do you?  Both on radio and TV, a simple up-to-date list containing the roster (with statistcs),  schedule, and the opposing roster with statistics is a place to start.  (These broadcasts are not a surprise as they are scheduled far enough ahead to make some notes for human interest stories also).

Radio is a different story.  We have been blessed with an icon of broadcasting.  But bless his heart, he is in his upper eighties, and no one remains as sharp as they once were.  These last couple of seasons he has come to the realization that a lot of road trips are better left for someone else.

So here is my (albeit not solicited) solution.  WOWO hires a full time broadcaster.  Bob Chase retires, but is announcer "emeritus" and sits in to any and all home broadcasts in the booth.  He, with the new announcer and Robbie Irons, would be a terrific team...and in that way, Chase could still be part of komet hockey for as long as he wants, yet retires with grace and the respect he most certainly deserves.

So again, thanks to MyTV and WOWO.  (The MyTV schedule is hanging on my 'fridge as a reminder of upcoming games).  Yes, there have been some problems with the broadcasts, but this is new and I'll take the problems as I know they are working on them...but I expect the announcers to be professionals, to know what they're talking about and be accurate.  To expect less and be satisfied just means that "less" will become the norm.

Who/suz, keep posting whatever you feel.  Take it from someone who gets hammered a lot on here.

How is continually complaining about Bob Chase and the WOWO broadcast or the MyTV broadcast on the News Sentinel blog site going to solve anything?  Especially while the game is in progress.

Get a clue.   Especially you.  who/suz

i too have listened to chase ever since i was a little kid.  he is a nationaly known and hall of fame broadcaster. the fact he is still doing his job is a testatment to ft wayne and hockey.  so we need to give him a little slack and show him some respect.  at his age i expect mistakes and im smart enuff to see past them, its an honor to us to have his service.  as far as tv goes, the station did this to help suport hockey and give us fans a game. maybe tommy and kent arent perfect but once you start with a high paid professional announcer and send a video team on the road the expenses will go thru the roof and the broadcasts will no longer be profitable. then we will all get screwed with no tv games.  so pick your spots with your criticisims.  i for one feel lucky that we are in a city where the radio and tv people feel good enuff to put minor league sports on the air. but i guess some people have to comlain about everything and anything.  my god, we have a first place team for most of the year and a team that you know will compete at every game and have given us a tremendous year yet some people have to be negative and attack schrock graham and now chase and hormman. dont get it.  you all should be proud of our media for what they are trying to do instead of attacking cause keep it up and you wont have it anymore.  sorry, didnt mean to do an alan here!!   lol

P.S.....have always spoken highly of Schrock and Graham.....Chase is a legend, I admit...TV great also, but we can always strive for more and better....and it may not cost us more and we may not lose it...discussion, not complaining is good 4 the soul....have a great day you all!

Chuckitt - It's a false choice between what we currently have in the way of broadcasters and Mike Emrich level professionals.  Both Chase and Hormann/Schoegler could do better and our criticism of their efforts is a way to convey how they could improve.  I certainly respect Chase's accomplishments and admire his longevity, but he currently isn't doing a good job conveying what's going on in the game.  It's difficult for me to tell sometimes from the play-by-play which team has the puck, what end of the ice they're in, and often Bob will go multiple segments (from commercial to commercial) and not even give the score.  I won't be so presumptuous as to ascribe it to his age, and frankly I don't care why.  I just don't listen anymore.  I have relatively low expectations of the TV team.  They don't do play-by-play full time and it's a really hard job.  That said, I think it's reasonable to expect them to do some minimal research to get their facts straight (41 vs 21 games, etc.).  I actually thought Hormann did a decent job of calling the action last night despite the factual errors and a bit of over-reliance on some cliches and I'll certainly watch again on Friday.

I Post Here Now... awesome job.. some of these bloggers need to get a life. They must have it made if all they can find wrong in life is to complain about a living legend and TV announcers making an error or two. Would love to see some of the Whiners do a complete game so I can bellyache and laugh my arse off at their incompetence....

I think Fort Wayne is blessed to have Bob. Regarless of his age. Be careful what you wish for. The next Komet play by play man one of these years may have you wishing for Bob.

Stick, I agree with you 100%. To see the Whinners do a game would be something. Some of them cant even spell the words see (c) too (2) or for (4).Talk about not being professional. Kent is a personal friend of mine, maybe I can set up a time so the Whinners can tell him to his face what they think. I will take mistakes over not having tv broadcast. I bet they dont like the weatherman either. They only get the weather right half the time.

While things said might not lead "to solving anything"...it has led to significant discussion...as evidenced hear based on my "complaining"...and while discussing ("whining" to those who can come up with nothing better to say or add to the conversation) these topics point out that there is always a need for a counterpoint...things should never stay the status quo

Like I indicated prior, where are all you folks during other blog discussions...again seems like you "need to get a life" if all you can do is critique others who seek discussions...and as you to would "bellyache"...so to would you fit the categories you thrust upon me....have a great day you all...time to move on

RG2, from your past comments I know that you are a very reasonable person.  I appreciate that fact.  But in saying so, and in light of your last comment, you do realize that sometime there will be changes.  No one lives forever, nothing stays the same.  Your view, and for the most part, Chuckitt's view too, is admirable.  But as distasteful as it might seem to you both, Komet hockey will go on.  No one is irreplaceable.

No one has a crystal ball in front of them, no one knows the future.  People are limited by time.  But people aren't limited in trying to improve.  Whoever (you can insert any name here) is announcing games will be paid for that work.  Listeners certainly can excuse mistakes but shouldn't be expected to just accept them (at least not constantly nor permanently).

Now back to hockey.  Roman Will was outstanding last night.  I wish he could've gotten his shutout.  Jones' shot was blistering from outside.

Perlini gets two and I couldn't be more happy for him.  Unfortunately I figure he is on the bubble, so to speak.  Maybe Severyn too.  But he was everywhere and I was impressed with his play last night. I was very happy for Faille and had forgotten his speed.  Embach got a big goal last night.

The quality and quantity of forwards is amazing.
