Three short-handed goals ties ECHL record, too.
Three shorthanded goals = A Syd Trick!
saw a big time weakness with the ks tonight which will bite them in the playoffs. krug is the only d man who stands up people at the blueline. the rest of the guys allow the wingers to ccome in and get off shots on goal which can be disastorus! dont know why they think letting a guy shoot is more acceptable than just getting in their way and making them cough up the puck.
They can't handle the high pressure forcheck either. That also will hurt them in the playoffs.
Why would the Komets allow Missouri to wear their Orange Third jerseys. They should have been in white. This was disrespectful. Great win and fantastic play from Szydlowski and Faille.
Why is their wearing orange jerseys "disrespectful? "....do not understand. .please elaborate?
Great game by all. .saw much more blue line presence on d than in past games. .congrats Szyd and Faille!
If Szyd doesn't score 3 shorties, this is another "penalties continue to kill Komets" write up...
I'm not going to dispute anything that has been posted above... but just taking a time-out on analyzing the game too deeply.
When I left the Coliseum last night, my thought was that of all the hockey I've seen in that building, that game was or HAD to be in the top five in terms of just being plainly unusual. Szydlowski gets five goals? Three shorthanded by the same team, let alone by the same player? (Similar to the time when Venadam scored three straight "hat tricks" (one of those games being a four goal game). But, of course, that was stretched over three consecutive games.
Game was full of "chippiness". Maybe it will carry over tonight.
That was a great game to have 8007 in the place. That should make some people want to come back.
Sorry to see that the K's have placed Guggenberger on the 21 day IR. These "reserve" rules in the ECHL are a bit confusing to me so I'm not sure whether or not he's eligible to come off at any time.
In accordance with the blog's discussion of the past few days, some in my section remarked that the "leadership" in the locker room must've been at its best between the second and third period. But then someone asked where it went between the first and second period?
As Bob would say, "Can't tell 'ya, still can't tell 'ya."
Alan, I saw your comment yesterday before the game on who you would put on lines. Still wanting to move Faille off of Embach and Szydlowski's line after last nights performance? As I had stated a few months ago, stop trying to be the GM and go watch the game as a FAN and have some fun. You are wrong 98% of the time in your comments.
As for Szydlowski, congrats on making some history! Loved the talk between him and Missouri's goalie, Robinson on twitter! Robinson having fun with it. Hope the Komets play well tonight and get another win. The second period last night was a bit rough and I thought we didnt make too many good decisions with the puck. Im glad Patty is back. #chasingKelly should be a blast again this year!
Hey Alan...how dare you have an OPINION about what you THINK the Komets should do!! So when did the Komets leadership post on this blog? Orange and Black HAS to be someone important to claim a mega Komets fan is wrong 98% of the time. Keep posting Alan.
Seriously, you guys get to see a performance like last night, and most of the comments are griping or whatever? What is wrong with you? You got to see one of the all-time great efforts in Komets history and...
Just for once, enjoy it for what it is and don't pick every little thing apart. This was a game you're going to remember forever and tell your grandkids about.
THANK YOU, BLAKE.... Sometimes the nitpicking makes me not want to read your blog. JUST STOP IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well said Blake! I wanted to say it but didn't want to waste my breath...
Well said Blake. Thank you for the excellent coverage.
