Tailing the Komets

Who do you want to see them play?

Who do you want to see the Komets play in the first round of the playoffs? If they win Friday in Wheeling and Saturday in Cincinnati, the Komets will really help Kalamazoo's cause to finish third, which could mean more games against the Wings after they've already had 15 regular-season games. Hello, Joel Martin!

If the Komets manage to overtake Toledo, they could end up playing either Wheeling, Cincinnati or Indy in the first round. Indy is closer, but who knows how much those tickets will cost? That could be ridiculous.

What do you think?

It's always fun to play Kzoo and an easy trip for Komets fans.  And it would be even sweeter to beat Chaulker and his crew!

Indy would be another quick trip for us.  It should be rather easy for the K's to knock them out since they've won all games in Indy so far, but I have a feeling Indy won't even make the playoffs.

However, unless we can jump to the top of the division, we're eventually going to have to get past Toledo and that will probably be the hardest test of all for the K's.  Again, another easy trip for Komets fans, and since I've not been to the new Toledo arena, I would look forward to that.

Whoever it is though better look out!  The K's are on a great roll this season and going all the way is a VERY strong possibility.  We've got a great team this season and I just hope Komets fans appreciate it and will be there to cheer them on...until June if need be!  Go K's!!!

Gotta play Toledo the way those two clubs have gone back and forth all year but if we happen to get out of the division can anyone beat South Carolina right now???

I'm not really concerned about who they play as much as I'm concerned about them taking penalties.

Here's a glaring statistic that caught my eye:

The Komets have 300 more penalty minutes than Toledo.

I know that the statistic contains all sorts of penalties (just not 2 minute minors), but for the sake of argument it is the equivalent of spending 5 games shorthanded!!

Remember what Schrock said about wearing out your players during the penalty kills?
