Need to keep Heard as center, not wing.

Congrats to the K's for closing out the series.  Glad we get to have some rest prior to round 2.  A few thoughts:

We need to greatly improve our special teams.  We rank in the bottom half in PP%, which is weird with all of our offensive firepower.  We rank next to dead last in PK%, which is weird with how well Will has played.  Most likely, we will play Toledo and that brings up a lot of potential issues on both the PP and the PK.  They, by far, take the fewest penalties in the league, meaning we will not get as many chances on the PP and we will have to make them count.  They also have, by far, the best PP in the league.  Good news is that Gary has a lot of time to make adjustments in these areas.

We need to continue to play physical.  I think that this one is a given, especially since our opponent for the next round is still playing and will not be as rested.  Over a series, this really wears the other team down.  We see it every year in the playoffs.

The officiating is bad.  I know, I know, it's easy to always criticize the officiating.  C'mon though.  These guys are professionals and it should be better.  Quit reffing the scoreboard please!  The team this is behind in the 3rd period always gets more PP's.  Shouldn't it be the other way around?  If a team is behind, they usually are being more aggressive and doing things to slow the other team down, right?  The other is consistency.  Crowder gets knocked out of the series from a slash........Daniels get 2-handed across the arms.......penalties are called for 2 minute minors.  Everytime we raise our sticks, we get 4 minutes.  This is obvious stuff guys.  Just be a little consistent.  Let the players play unless it is dangerous or impacts a goal scoring chance.....then call it consistently all game!  How many players left their feet on a check or slashed all game from both teams in game 4?  Only to give Kzoo a 5 on 3 at the end of the game?  Ridiculous.

All in all we have the most talented team I can remember.  Our top 2 lines could be #1 lines on any other team in this league.  Let's get some rest, figure out our Special Teams and get ready for round 2!

Whole, while I agree with most everything you said about the first round let's be fair to the officials. There is no way you can tell Crowder's injury from the slash. The only double minor I remember is CJ's high stick which drew blood, no matter how small amount, and that will always be called. We deserved the 5 on 3 in game four because of a bonehead move!

The biggest problem I had with many of the refs was the boys couldn't tell how to play. A play on shift A was let go but called on shift B. If it's a penalty in the first, it should be a penalty in the third and if it's not called, let it go all game long!!!

It was sad to see the very few Wings fans at Saturday's game in Kzoo. I am surprised they survive year after year with such small fan support.
