great article blake!  as far as the attendance records go, any numbers after 1975 would mark a legitimate record. as one whose gone to games since 1959 , our crowds since the frankes took over the franchise are far more than the ones in the past!  as far as lake erie sending down guys, im not too sure we can use anybody other than maybe heard and meurs. of course that would put some guys like rizk crowder and clarke and severn on the bubble. dont know if they would risk getting heard hurt but i dont know if we would reallly need beaupre and certainly in my opinion dont need petyrk . be interested on how you and others feel about it???

I can remember the crowds from the Turner cup season of 72-73 because I went to so many games. Because of travel hockey we got a lot of tickets discounted to $2-4 for upper arena.  Seems that the avg crowds were about 4000-4800. The playoff game when Fitchner challenged the Flint Bench was about 7200. I had never seen that many people in the coliseum and there was some buzz about the "large attendence" at the coliseum. That was when it only held 8200 so it looked almost full.  It was loud that night.

I believe that's the only playoff game recorded as a sellout before the Frankes bought the team in 1990.

Dont know why they haven't sent Beaupre yet unless he's injured. Lake Erie just recieved two Avalanche top defenseman prospects from junior and are dressing 8 defensemen. They are probably going to need all the forwards until their season is over though they don't use Meurs if they can help it. Petryk has been playing on their top line for weeks, he's a good player for them. Would love to see all of their seasons extended in the playoffs here.

I think Mitchell Heard would be a nice fit with Crowder in the middle and Pistilli on the right side( all healthy). The second line is set. Plenty of talent left to make up the third line + one. Thats all ( Heard)I would take from Cleveland.

Okay to have a couple healthy guys ready.
