Tough loss to swallow last night.  Difficult to watch a finesse team that had just finished a 7 game OT series come out and take it to us physically.  I posted a few days ago that I was afraid that we would be so afraid of taking penalties that we would not play physical against a tired team.  Well, we let them off the hook last night.  Not only did we lose, we gave them the confidence that they are the faster AND more physical team.  Why not hit them every chance we got?  Just don't understand our strategy at all.

Kudos to Lalonde for having his team ready to play us with only 1 day to prep.  They were in our passing lanes all night and really stifled what he called the "leagues scariest lineup".  He had his guys playing together as a team, hitting us, and bottling us up.

Graham mentions that we didn't play together as a team last night........isn't it a little late in the season for that?  You could clearly see from how Toledo plays that they operate as one unit.  Their coach must demand and set that expectation all year long.  No doubt that we have the talent and the speed; just can't figure out why we are so inconsistent.  Also, with our talent, we should be able to match up as far as special teams go as well.  But we are so afraid of their power play.  With our skill, they should be afraid of ours too.

This will be their 4th game in 5 nights tonight.  You would have to think that we could somehow take advantage of that.

I believe someone also said Toledo is an exhausted team and that Lerg would steal "one"...one stolen....that means we win 4 in a row?

Yes, I did say that he would steal one.  He didn't steal one last night.  We just got outplayed and out-hit by a team that had played 3 games in the last 4 nights.  I would have never thought that they would have taken it to us like that after we had nearly a week to get rested and plan for how we were going to play them.  Everything seemed to favor us going into yesterday's game.  Give credit to Toledo though; they were able to figure out a strategy to shut us down.

Wheeling gave them all they could handle by being very physical with them.  It seemed like the blueprint was obvious on how to slow them down and wear them down but we went a totally opposite direction.

As far as winning the next 4; we definitely have the skill to do so.  It's just a chess match with the coaches in my opinion.  Round 1 goes to Lalonde for how he had his team ready to execute.  We will have to see what Gary changes going into the game tonight.   I would assume that we would play a very physical game with them and make some changes on how we break out of our own zone.

Allen practically had a whole "off season" between series.  They lost (at home).

Komets had a bunch of time to rest.  They lost.

Not sure about the other ones going on (but you get the idea).

Weird things going on (sinkhole in DeKalb County, 4.0 earthquake in southern Michigan).  Maybe the Komets will continue the "unusual" with a win this evening!

No matter what, compared to the last few years, this has been terrific.
